My name is Jamie, and I have always had this fascination for piercings. My mother has always called me a freak for liking them so much. To me, a piercing can tell a story and can tell who a person really is. So, I wanted to say who I was and get my cartilage pierced (as well as my third piecing in my ear lobes).

When I first told me mother that I wanted my cartilage pierced (and my third piercing in my lobe) she acted like I was crazy! Having two holes in each ear was already too much for her, but I wanted more. My first four (two in each ear of course) had hurt quite a bit. I had gotten them done with a gun, and it was the most stupid thing I have ever done. All four had gotten infected, but they are all better now!

Any who, back to the cartilage. Finally, after I said that if I could get my third hole in my lobes and my cartilage pierced, I wouldn't pierce my nose. She agreed and I couldn't have been happier.

Finally, the day had come, and the guy (gene) was coming to my house to do the job. I couldn't help but laugh when he came over. I mean, who gets free piercings at their house! Well, a lot of people do...anyway, he came over and had this huge box full of goodies! For a moment, I freaked, but when I saw the look on my mothers face...the look of, "I told you so...that your not gonna do it" I looked directly in her eyes and said, "lets do it" and he got started. Thank the lord that this guy was hot! So, I had no trouble calming down! He wanted to do my cartilage first, cause it was the most hardest for him to do. So I just nodded and smiled. He looked around in his box, for some q-tips, the earring, pliers to stretch the earring to the size needed, clamps, gloves, gauze, and of course...the needle. He told me all of the facts about having your cartilage pierced. He told me not to talk on the phone with my right ear, and just try not to touch it too much. He always mentioned to never put alcohol on the cartilage. That's a HUGE no no! He said to just use a bar of soap and water. The best way for this, would be to clean the ear in the shower.

He asked me if I had any questions and all I asked was how long do I have to keep it in. I had told him before that my ears tend to close if I take them out to soon, so he told me, just to be safe, to keep the cartilage earring in for at least a year. My eyes got so big! I mean a year! I had no clue it was going to take a year! I just told him ok, no problem, and he got to work. He got his gloves on, and got all his tools ready. He first put some anti bacteria or rubbing alcohol on my ear, and just rubbed it in for a while and if felt pretty good. After he cleaned it, he put a mark on my ear and asked me if I wanted it there. It was too high the first time, so I told him to lower it down a little. Don't be ashamed to ask him to move it. It's your ear, and your piercing, so do what you'd like! When he finally got it just where I wanted, I told him it was perfect and sat back down in front of him. He looked at it again, to make sure the position was right, and then picked up the needle. He first talked to me about how he would be counting down to three so I would know when he was going to pierce it. I just nodded, and took a deep breath. I looked over at mom as he counted down to three.

One...two...three!

And bam! Guess who had a new piercing...that's right...me!!! It didn't hurt one bit! I did bleed a lot, but I'm a bleeder, what can I say! He put the needle all the way through my cartilage, then connected the earring to the gage, and pulled it the rest of the way through. This took a while, and was uncomfortable, but not that big of a deal. If you ever get this done, never move while he is doing this! I moved a little, and it hurt, so I'm telling you, do not move! After he was through with that, I got the other two piercing for my ear lobes, and those were so easy!

I'm so glad that I had gotten my cartilage pierced, and it looks so good! I had only gotten these done yesterday, and they don't even hurt anymore! Now, I have something that explains me. As I told you before, piercings tell a story and everyone has a different story. Of course I don't know what my story is, 'cause I haven't finished writing it yet! I have to get a few more piercings in order to finish...
