I have always wanted lots of piercings, but my parents have told me no. When I told them I was going to get my tragus pierced they said okay, and I finally decided I was going to do it. I did a lot of research on it, and heard tonnes of horror stories, but I wanted it done, and decided to go through with it.

So last year in August I was with my best friend and my boyfriend and we decided we were going to get my tragus pierced. My best friend was getting her nose done, and well my boyfriend was just bringing us there.

We went in and filled out the information and paid, then my best friend and I went in and got her nose done. When it came to my turn though I didn't know who to choose between to have stay in the room with me; my best friend, or my boyfriend. I chose neither, I didn't want any hard feelings or anything. The piercer got ready and explained what he would do. I was very comfortable in the room, the colors were nice, and there was even a fish tank. He took all of his tools out of their packages in front of me, and must've changed his gloves 5 or 6 times which was really good! In my mind though I was thinking, "Okay lets just get on with this before I chicken out!" But better safe that sorry I suppose. He even got a bobby pin and pinned my hair back by my ear, and then changed his gloves . . . yet again! So then he took a small little felt and marked out where my piercing with be on my ear, and I thought it was perfect. He told me that he was then going to clamp it, and I would breath in and out three times. On the third time as I was breathing out he was pierce me. He said that I would feel it go through most likely, but it would be more of an uncomfortable feeling, because of the pressure while he put the barbell in. So we went to it. He clamped it,I breathed three times, and in went the needle. Some people say their hear a popping feeling, but I didn't. I could hear it go through but it wasn't really loud.I felt it go through the top layer of skin, and then through my cartilage. Actually to be honest with you, I enjoyed the feeling of it. It was a cool feeling! A lot of people say as well that it hurts so incredibly much. I didn't think so. He put the barbell in and it was all done. I looked in the mirror and there was a little bit of blood, but that was it. I walked out beaming with a smile.

After the three of us went and got something to eat, and admired our new piercings. I was sort of concerned though because my tragus was really really swollen, I was told it would be swollen, but it was so swollen to the point that I couldn't even turn the barbell. I left it for awhile, and the swelling went down. But I found that every now and then the swelling would go up, which concerned me. I thought maybe the barbell was too thick (because thats what someone told me) but eventually it healed with very few to no problems! I found out that the reason it gets so swollen is because your body is trying to protect itself from foreign invaders that it isn't used to. Like a big hunk of metal going through your ear. It very rarely gets swollen now, unless I play with it a lot, or try to change the earring, and have trouble doing it. But I can sleep on it, and if I hit is or anything like that it doesn't hurt at all. I don't even know its there anymore!

I love my tragus piercing so much, I didn't think it hart that much, and now a year later its all healed up. If your wondering if it hurts too much and the pain is something that should stop you, I really don't think so, but I also think I have a high pain tolerance when it comes to tattoos and piercings. But I would really encourage people to go for it! I never have regretted it!!

My next piercing that I want to get is a monroe, but because I work at a golf course, my boss wants me to wait because well facial piercings aren't all that socially acceptable apparently, and also because he says it could get infected easily, and he doesn't want to have to tell me to go home because it looks too gross. I guess I'll have to wait, but once the golfing season is over, I am going to go and get it done.I have also been thinking that I want to get my belly button done too, although I hear they can reject really easily. Still thinking about it though.
