My ears were never really big and my lobes were never really there...but that didn't stop me. All my life I had to listen to my mother tell me how small and precious my ears were. It drove me nuts, my ears aren't cute, they're badass!

The stretching started when I was about 15 years old...I had discovered the beautiful art of body modification a few years prior and had decided to take it up a notch. I went into Black Sun and had my 14ga lobes stretched to 10ga. That was the beginning of the end-over the years, while accumulating other piercings I had managed to stretch my lobes from 10 ga to 00ga. And that brings us to the present...(well, past present)
Let me start off by saying that Black Sun is the most professional piercing (and JUST piercing) studio in Montreal. I have been going to them for the last 6 years and I don't see myself trusting anyone else with my body. At 00ga I was unsatisfied, I wanted to go bigger but I wasn't sure how far I really wanted to go. I set up an appointment with Pierre Black(owner and main piercer of the studio) to discuss my options and was told what my mother had been telling me since I was but a wee babe..."your lobes are small and thin..." ARGH!! Stupid small ears, cursed for life. I couldn't stretch my ears the old fashionned way anymore, my lobes were thinning out under my jewlery and if I continued to stretch gradually, I risked tearing my ear. Quick to the rescue, Pierre informed me that there was another option IF I still wanted to stretch bigger (which I did now more than ever). It was that I could cut up and into my earlobes, cutting into my other lobe piercings and stretch as big as an inch. I decided to think it over for a little bit, after all, once a piece of your ear is cut out, there's no going back-there's not even a chance of getting "cat ass" ears because the hole is just too big.
After a couple of days of contemplation, I decided to go back to Black Sun and order my jewlery. I had decided to stretch 7/8" and chose a gorgeous pair of single flare blue acrylic dychro plugs. The waiting game killed me...I'm very impatient and hate to wait for anything. I'm also kinda wussy and tend to over analyze, over research (thanks BME) and over freak out so when the jewlery finally arrived I wasn't even sure if I was even ready to go through with it. The day of my appointment was the same day I had returned from a hellish 8 day trip to Sasketchwan-never EVER go to the prairies...it sucks there...sweet f*%k all to do. I had almost just gotten off the plane when I was hauled off to Black Sun. Of course, I was late but that wasn't a problem and I got there as quickly as possible. Once arrived, Jess (co-owner of the shop) showed me my plugs and it was love at first sight..then horror. THEY WERE HUGE!! I nearly died on the spot-I had not expected them to be so big and scary. I calmed down soon enough though and went into the piercing room with my boyfriend. Pierre gave me a mild anesthetic and described the procedure to me. He would use what looked to me to be a large pair of cuticle cutters to snip out a small triangle shaped piece of my lobe. Seemed straightforward enough...it just took a little coaxing to let Pierre near me with those things. The right ear was the first to get it. Luckily, I was numb and trying not check for blood-the first ear took a bit more than 15 minutes and barely hurt. I had to get a couple of stitches put in though, which led to me going into shock. I had been a total trooper the whole time the ear was being clipped-imagine having someone clipping their nails right next to your ear-that's all I could hear-*snip snip snip*. Now for the shock-my body freaked out, I broke into a cold sweat and felt kinda dizzy. Pierre advised that I take a breather and I chilled out for 15 minutes. I am a wuss. Anyways, I relaxed a bit and focused o my breathing while my second ear started being cu "\Ãw€ë t. My left ear went by super quickly-it must've taken only about 10 minutes at the most and they were done. Beautiful, my ears looked awesome through the peroxide and the stitches and the blood. Amazingly enough though, there was barely any blood during the procedure...only after.
The healing process was slow and uneventful. I drunkenly pulled out my stitch a week into the healing but no biggy. Other than that, my ears bled for a couple of days...scabbed up...you know, the fun stuff. But they healed beautifully...I love them and do not regret having them done so big-I almost want them bigger. 6 months later and I still can't get over how big my ears are now...and neither can my mom. She freaks out every time I take out my plugs and little children can't help but touch my ears on the train or on the bus. People come up and ask me if the jewlery goes "all the way through"...others get all grossed out. I don't give a shit, I could talk about my stretches all day long. My big floppy ears are one of my favorite mods and if I could do it all over again, I would.
