My friend and I have become frequent visitors to a very reputable piercing place in town. On our first visit, I got a nostril piercing and she got her tragus done. Since then we stopped by several times to see if I could get my stud changed to a ring and to check up on our piercings. My friend's tragus piercing ended up surfacing but she wasn't too disappointed because it meant getting a new and different one for free. So three weeks later she went to get a new piercing and I had thoughts about getting something random pierced in my ear, or changing my stud to a ring if it had healed up properly yet. They had just moved into a new and bigger studio and it's absolutely beautiful. I have no doubt that's where all the cool moms will be comfortable bringing their teenagers to get their body modifications.

As it turned out my nostril had healed pretty well, but I decided against getting a ring put in. They had just moved the day before and didn't have a small enough ring yet, and besides that I was stoked about getting something pierced in my ear. I looked at the little model ears trying to decide what I would like. I had looked on BME a lot, trying to see what I thought would look good and I was considering an inner conch, tragus, or daith piercing. My friend decided on the inner conch so I went for the daith. The girl who worked at the front had a daith and I thought it looked stellar so that helped me to make my decision.

I decided to go first and was lying on the table waiting and watching as my piercer showed my all of the autoclaved equipment and went through all the safety talk and whatever. I have been to other piercing places, and this one is definitely the best. She is very professional and safe. She lets you know your options for jewelry and placement and gives advice on what would look good for each particular person. I'm not sure, but I think that this studio might cost a little more, but to me knowing that you are in good hands is worth the slight extra cost.

When I got my eyebrow pierced, my first piercing besides 5 in my lobes and my helix, I was really nervous. I had put a lot of thought and pleading into that piercing. It didn't really hurt, and my theory is that it is because I had so much adrenaline worked up. When I got my nose pierced, I wasn't nervous at all and there was a different kind of sharp pain, which I didn't really expect. When I got my daith done, I wasn't nervous either and wow, did it ever hurt. Though I have to say I knew it would, I just didn't really put a lot of worry into that part of the experience.

She told me to breathe in and then let the breath out as she put the needle through. It made a sick scraping grindy noise, but she later told me that the sound was not my cartilage being forced through. It's actually the sound of the jewelry and the hollow needle or something, I totally forget. Anyways, it was reassuring to know that noise didn't come from my ear.

Oh yes, back to the pain. Yeah, it definitely hurts. It is a thick little piece of cartiledge and it is pretty painful, which I guess should be expected with any piercing. She was very quick and as soon as I felt the pain she was saying that it was done. It didn't bleed a ton or swell at first, but then it definitely swelled up. It didn't last too long, probably only a few minutes, but it was pretty obvious at first. With the other piercings I've had, the pain happened at the time of the piercing and maybe for a half an hour after that and when it was provoked or touched. With this one, two days later it still is pretty sore. Like a constant dull throbbing.

I love this piercing, its totally unique and adorable. I got a ring that is a bit bigger, and it just sits inside my ear. I like the size of it and I don't think that I would change to a smaller one when it heals, though a barbell might look kind of cool too. The only thing I'm having trouble with is the cleaning because it is really difficult to see if there is blood on the ends of the ring because it's such an awkward position. It's a little difficult to get in there and clean it well, but I'm doing tons of hot soaks, and getting my friend to clean it when she's around because she can better see what she's doing. All in all, another great piercing experience that I'm going to enjoy for a long time.
