"Pointy Ear" project. I always thought they were fucking badass looking and that one day I decided to make my fantasy into a reality. To set the mood it was December 31st, I went down to the shore for a new years party with some friends. On my way down I passed this Tattoo & Piercing studio I have always wanted to check out. Its called Above and Beyond in Cape May county.
What did I want?
I originally wanted to get 3 helix's on each ear, but due to a "Piercing Malfunction" (not really just not enough jewelry in-house). Oh well I thought, looks like I will get just the two then. Which turned out perfectly fine, I mean there is only so much ear pain a man can take for one sitting right?
Where did I do it?
At this studio called "Above and Beyond". Not a bad place considering you can count the number of studio's on one hand in South Jersey. When I walked in there was someone getting inked up which was cool to me, I wanted to see his hand techniques and see how he takes care of his client. The place was fairly clean I must say. Some of there chairs/tables were a bit primitive but it did the job. I remember then some emo girls came in with there new navels and tongue piercings which turned out to be helpful and informative. Turns the guy that was to pierce my ears did nipples on the one girl and she flashed me, hehehe, but needless to say all the piercing on the girls looked good. I am anal about symetrics and placement and these were right on the money so I gave me a sign of relief after seeing some straight piercings and some titties.
When did I do it?
I made it to my friends house at like 12pm I think. After about a half hour of reasoning I decided to go through with this. And the day was New Years Eve. We got to the studio around 1pm and due to clients before me I had to wait till about 2:30-3:00pm which was fine, in a way we had time to kill. So we sat there and read some Tattoo mags and some High Times. When my time came I took off my shirt in fear of blood ruining one of my few good shirts and gave my digital camera to my friend and then the fun began...
How did it go?
I'm not going to lie to you. That shit was painful. The pain came in series though, let me try and explain. Okay, the first ear we tackled was my right ear. First needle went right through the top of my ear, I was like "okay that wasn't that bad" but then as soon as I said that everything went rough. The whole "hurting" part only occurred when he would slide the needle through and put the jewelry in. Goddamn that shit was painful. But soon enough my adrenalin kicked in full gear. I started sweating, normal at first I suppose but it got more and more as we went on. Like I said the initial piercing of the flesh wasn't the bad part, its when the jewelry goes through. So with my right ear pierced we took a 5 minute breather. I remember looking into the mirror and seeing my ear TRIPLED in size. Weird enough there was NO BLOOD DRIPPING. I was kinda pissed about that but its cool, no need to get all messy before a big new years party. Okay so then we moved on the left ear. "Deep breath in...Deep breath ou..ch!" This guy showed no mercy, which was fine with me but goddamn I think he enjoyed my pain too much. Okay so I am sitting there with 4 pierced ears(helix's) and now it was time to uncork the needles and slam the jewelry in. No words can describe how much that hurt. It was an orgasm of pain, and I loved it. Every fucking second. Once all the jewelry was in I remember standing up and trying to walk around. The adrenalin was pumping through me so fast I couldn't form sentences. I was shaking and stuttering away. Sweat gleaming from my face, I was drenched. It was definitely a memory I will not forget and its something I'm glad I did.
How did it feel afterwards?
It felt like someone poured gasoline on my ears and had an eternal lighter. But once we left and went outside to get in my car and leave my ears felt soo much better. Cold air saved my ass. I remember that feeling like it just happened. Instant relief. Hahaha it was like 20-30 degrees outside and I was cruising back to my friends house with the windows down. The cold air flowing through my ears it was wonderful. We went back to my friends house and the party began, Pointy Ears and all.
How it feels today?
They are still healing. I still pick those lovely little crusty's out every morning it feels like. Sadly though the one piercing is healing crooked. Its not bad but I noticed it. Hopefully when they heal completely I can stretch them out to be nice and even. Having pointy ears is a challenge. My experience with them I noticed that you cannot put new "points" on them as much as I thought I could. And with long points you will have the most trouble sleeping comfortably. I have accepted this and I have yet to have a good nights sleep. Like any modifications though your body will adjust and you will live on, and I am going to keep living with my Pointy Ear Project.
