I'm all into my plugs and so is my best friend, and we were talking about going bigger. So about a week ago my friend and I were discussing which would be more painful, stretching or scalpelling. I have 2ga plugs and he has 0ga and we wanted to go bigger. Everyone always told me once I get one size done I'm gonna want to keep going. And boy were they right, its like an addiction. I said that I think scalpelling would hurt more than stretching which I had done since my diamond stud days. He disagreed and said scalpelling seems less painful and a lot better, even though he had not had it done.
At A Glance Author anonymous When A week ago So we started asking around and tried to look for more information and we got a lot of different opinions. Did some research on BME and asked local studios about it. And we decided the best way to find out is to have scalpelling done. So we set off to choose a studio, we found a real cool place and it was a pretty clean place, not many people inside. We asked the piercer if they had any photos of work they had done. They had a lot of pictures to our surprise and a lot of them showed the whole process, which assured us that this was the place to get it done. And we came to the conclusion that they had had a lot of practice and expierence with scalpelling.
Next was the decision of who would go first, neither of us wanted to go first so we decided with a game of paper rock scissors. Luckily I won so my buddy got to go first. He decided to make the big jump to 1 in.. Which was a little too big for me, but they were his ears. So they took him to a room where they did their piercings and sat him down in a chair and placed all un open items on a table and the artist washed his hands and placed gloves on. It was a little like watching a doctor operate on somebody or something. I had to watch from a small window outside the little room though. I could tell he was nervous, but he sucked it up and went through with it.
Next thing I know they're cutting him and hes squirming around making faces and I'm thinking myself, should I go through with this or should I keep stretching. I guess you could say I was having second thoughts. But then it was all over before I knew it. They looked pretty good and my buddy was pretty happy with them. Then it hit me it was my turn. I was nervous, but anxious to see how they would come out. The guy set up everything on the table and checked out my ears, got them straightened out with a marker. Then he asked me to look in the mirror to make sure I liked the positioning. I replied yeah thats good and sat back down. I was only going to a 1/2 in. though. I was really nervous first of all because I'm not a big fan of cutting my self and second I didn't want him to slip and cut my ear off. He could tell I was nervous and he reassured me he had plenty of expierence in this and he wasn't gonna mess up.
Then I felt the cold scalpel touch my ear and he told me to take a few deep breathes and he began cutting away. To my surprise it wasn't painful at all. Once he finished with the left ear he moved on to the right one, which went the same way. Then came the clean up which stung a little bit, but its all good. And the rest is history. It didn't hurt at all. I was completely shocked and relieved at the same time.
Once it was all over I had a quick look in the mirror and was completely happy with my new 1/2 in. plugs. I was impressed actually by the good job the guy had done it was pretty darn cool. So we paid the guy and thanked him for the rad job he had done and we were off to show the world our new plugs. Our parents didn't really like the new ones, hell they didn't like the old ones either, but we're of age and are able to express ourselves any way we want. In the end scalpelling is not as bad as everyone forsees it to be. In all it didn't really hurt much and was actually better and a lot quicker and less time consuming than actually stretching. Sure its a little frightening but trust me its worth it in the long run.
