About a month ago I got my daith pierced. I had had the itch for something new for a while. I was even suppose to go on my birthday, about two weeks before and get something new. But that didn't work out so I had to wait until the next time my boyfriend came up to see me so we could go together. Earlier that week we decided that since we didn't have any real big plans on New Years we would go then. Before I could go I had to warn my mother about what I was doing so she wouldn't flip out. Regardless or warning or not she still does get a little freaked out. But I am 20 and I can make some decisions on my own. Plus it's kind of hard to complain when I keep my grades up and I don't cause a whole lot of trouble.

So on New Years Eve I went with my boyfriend to go get some stuff done and Six-Six-O-One, one of the best places to get pierced and I would never go anywhere else. So if you are ever in Berkeley stop by there and check it out. So we walked in and it was really busy. The new shop girl took a little while to help us. We told her all that we would like done a daith and nipple stretching for me, and a septum stretch for my boyfriend. I filled out the paper work for the daith, and waited for Paul to finish with the people ahead of me.

We waited quite a while there because there were about six people in front of us. When it was finally our turn we came up to the counter and picked out jewelry for each thing we were doing. I picked out a 16 ga cbr for my daith, 10 ga barbells for my nipples, and my boyfriend picked out a 6 ga cbr for his septum. While we did this Paul kept having to remind himself that I don't need to go over aftercare, seeing as how I have 10 piercings from their shop alone.

When everything was all polished we walked back to the room, and Paul decided that I would go first because piercings take longer than stretching. So I climbed up on the table, he cleaned me up and marked me. He asked my if the placement was about right. It was impossible to tell with the mark, because it's so far in the ear. I trust his markings though because he is a perfectionist, and I have never had any problems with his placement or piercings in general.

I laid down and turned my head, so that he would have easy access. He bent the needle and put the needle to the inside of my ear near the rook. He had me take a big breath and exhale slowly. On the exhale he began to push the needle through. It wasn't all the way through so I took another big breath and it went all the way through on the exhale. It crunched for the first time, with all my other cartilage work nothing else had ever crunched. Then he placed the ring in. I went to look at it in the mirror but was having a little trouble with the mirror angles. Fortunately my boyfriend brought his digital camera, so he took a picture and showed it to me, it look so beautiful. It looked like it has always been there.

The nipples also went very smoothly. The holes were big enough that they just slid right through. My boyfriend had a bit more trouble with his septum, it wasn't as loose. The taper got about halfway through and then didn't want to budge any more. Paul even changed the jewelry from a cbr to a retainer so that it wouldn't hurt so bad and there could be a seamless exchange. Even with that it still looked like it smarted.

After a few minutes he sat up and walked back to the front to pay. As a birthday present my boyfriend paid for my nipples and we each paid for our other work. I tipped him as usual and we left.

On the way out to dinner my boyfriend started to feel much better and every once and a while I would get a small little sting of pain my ear. Once we had dinner even the little occasional stings of pain went away. The only difficult thing to do of the evening was kiss my boyfriend with out hitting his nose.

There wasn't any major swelling or pain with my daith. It's been healing pretty uneventfully. I soak it in sea salt once or twice a day and remove any other crust after with a cotton swap after it has been dipped in the sea salt.
