This summer I got my conch pierced. Everyone I tell about this piercing thinks I got something "down there" pierced. That's not where it is at all. It is in my ear.

All of my piercings (navel, lobes, other weird ear piercing that I have no idea what it's called exactly) were done spontaneously. All on the spur of the moment.

Ok, so, back to my conch piercing. I think it happened on a Saturday...or maybe it was on a Thursday...wow...I can't remember. All I know is that I went to bme and was looking at them earlier that day and felt like I needed to get my conch done...that day. I'm an emotional piercer, so when something big happens in my life I like to mark it with a new piercing...I had just DUMPED my lying, cheating, boyfriend (we were going out for a year or more) and I felt that when I got my conch done that it would mark a special point in my life.

I was only 15, so of course I needed parent consent. My mom is really cool about piercings and tattoos and stuff, so all I had to do was beg a little and show her how "cute" it would look. Plus, she hated my ex and thought anything to make him mad was awesome. He hated my piercings...we were so wrong for each other.

She told me to start looking for places near by because she didn't want to drive all over Orange County just to get that pierced. We live in Orange and I found this cool place called RiffRaff that was in Balboa...it's not that close but I loved the name and the website. I had to beg again to get her to take me to RiffRaff. She wanted to check out this one place...called like...something that had to do with pain or something, so I humored her and said we could check it out since it was closer. We went there and the only guy that was there was really mean and didn't give any information about it, so my mom said that we could go to RiffRaff. She called me a brat...she was just kidding because I got my way. haha.

Anyway, we drove down to RiffRaff and it was already dark. We had to stop at Ikea to get a toilet seat (the things I remember) and I was getting upset because it was taking sooooo long. I was afraid the place would close and I wouldn't get it done that day.

We made it to RiffRaff just in time. I told the guy what I wanted done and he couldn't believe that I wanted that. He said it hurts a lot and I told him good. He asked how old I was and he said I was too young even with parental consent. Thankfully my mom told him I had been pierced many times before and told me to show him and I did and he said ok...but if we were the F.B.I. and were checking to see if they pierced minors that he would sue for entrapment. haha.

So, long story longer...we went to the back room, made the marks, everything was beautifully sterile. My mom was being way picky about the placement of everything and he had to do it 3 times just to satisfy her...I really didn't care at that point...I just wanted it done.

At last he sat me up on the bench thinger and I put my hair up and my mom does this awesome thing where she says to count to ten and then she mixes in the alphabet...like 1, 2, 3, A, B, 4, 5, C, D, E, F....it's great and totally random, so I have to think about what she's doing and I was laughing at her and before i knew it I was pierced. The guy that did it rested his sack against my leg the whole time...ew...but he thought my mom's "technique" was good for taking your mind of of it and he said he would have to use it next time instead of the generic "On 3, 1, 2, 3."

I'm not gonna lie...it hurt more afterwards. I was fine when the needle and jewelry was going through but when I got home it was throbbing...and sleeping...FORGETABOUTIT...man...that was the toughest thing and still is tough even 6 months after...it gets sore when I lie on it...but...I LOVE IT...it fits in perfectly with my family of piercings.

I just turned 16 (!) and I'm trying to talk my mom into a horizontal surface piercing below my navel...I think it would be just perfect to mark my "Sweet 16"...but she's having a hard time understanding why I would want that SKIN pierced...haha...if you have any advice on this type of piercing...or how to persuade her...contact me!
