Ever since I first saw a transverse lobe piercing on the side of this guys head I subconsciously knew it was something I needed. I already had 6 rings and an industrial in my left ear so I decided I needed to start working on my right. I thought I could quite easily find a piercer to do this, but obviously I was wrong.

What started as a curiosity slowly turned into a mission.

I started my mission by going up to under the skin in aldershot, I asked them if they were able to do it, the guy had never done it before but offered to do it anyway, so I thought cool and decided to calm my nerves (which were quite on the edge after the piercer openly admitted to never having done this before) by going out for a smoke to calm down, this was probably my biggest mistake. I returned to the parlor and paid the money and signed the waver and all that stuff, then went through to the piercing chair/bed thing. He numbed my ear and got the barbell ready. Then he told me that my lobes didn't dangle enough, it really did suck, so I swallowed my pride and opted for 3 standard gun piercing.......thats what a joint before a piercing does really......

So I returned home, looked in the mirror and decided it looked awful, the studs were huge and there were still pen marks on my ear where the gun was so inaccurate, so I slept on the idea of removing them and the next morning took them out and let them heal up. 8.50 down the drain, oh well.

A couple of weeks later the mistake holes had healed and I started my mission once again. I went to a local tattoo parlor and asked if they could carry it out, but they told me it was "a bad idea, they usually bleed loads and tear" I knew this was a lie because id read previous experiences on BME. Another piercer too scared to take on a slightly unusual challenge.

So i decided to phone around some places, I searched for body piercing on the yellow pages web site and found some supposed body piercers, unfortunately a lot seamed to be hairdressers who claim to be body piercers because they have pierced a couple of navels and own a piercing gun. I finally find some specialist places, but very few are open to the challenge or are experienced enough for my comfort. I didn't want to pick the first place that said "um.....I suppose we could try"

So I kept calling around until I found some friendlier sounding studios, I found a short list of 4 possible places, although 2 of them were in places I was unsure of and one was deadly expensive. So I decided to go for the safest option, eclipse in camden, my friend told me about them as he had his lip pierced there and he said they were as sterile as an operating room. (which they were)

Luckily i was heading up to london the next day (new exhibition in my favorite art gallery) So I went to camden and went into eclipse, showed them a picture I had printed from BME and asked if they could do it. The guy looked at it and then at my lobe and nodded and said yes, I held in my excitement to keep the risk of looking like a dick as low as I could, but inside I almost exploded with excitement.

I signed the forms, paid up and they took me to the room straight away, I lied down while the guy prepared everything and when he had the barbell measured up to my lobe he told me to breathe in (no counting or anything dumb like that) then pushed through the needle (freehand of course)....I was almost confused, I was waiting for some pain or maybe a little blood, but no, nothing, less painful then a gun on an earlobe. He pushed through the barbell and screwed on the ball. I was set, I tipped the guy all the change I had, shook his hand, thanked him and walked out.

This had to be the least painful piercing i've ever had, I mean I didn't think my industrial hurt but this wasn't even uncomfortable, only slightly warm. Its great, the only trouble i've had from it is my school telling me that I have to take it out (which i didn't) and that its not my ear until I finish my exams. Oh well.

Aftercare is easy, two sea salt soaks a day for the first months, once a day for the second. Easy as pie. No build up at all, no problems, not one.

Anyone who wants it done, absolutely should, it as good as painless and look fucking awesome. Even if its your first piercing, get it done, its childs play. I'll try to get some pictures on once I have time, its 100% something id want to share.
