I had been thinking about getting my rook removed for a while. And of course I knew that without it I would feel weird, as I'd had my rook for some time. So I looked through BME to see if there was anything I liked. I liked the daith but I kind of wanted something different then my rook. So when I saw the snug I just fell in love.

So I planned out a trip to World Domination to get my rook removed and to get a snug. I had wanted my friend to come with me but she could not come. I then went to see if my mom would come but she was not home. I was going to be on my own...or I'd have to wait and possible prolong the trip for quite some time. I choose to go alone as I knew that If I did not go right then I would end up waiting to do it for a long time because of my indecision.
So I got to World Domination. Will was not there but he would be soon so I sat done and read a magazine. When Will got there I explained to him that I wanted my rook removed because it was causing me a lot of grief (and it was also starting to migrate). I also mentioned that I thought I would like to get something else as my ear would feel kind of naked to me without my rook. So I asked about the snug (as I had see it on BME).
He said that it was really painful but that it would look good on me and that he had not seen too many of them around. I joked back with 'It was probably because it hurts so much'. So after a quick think I decided I would have a snug to replace my poor rook. I filled out the paperwork and gave him my money.
I had to wait a minute, as he had to set-up so I took a look at some art for tattoos on the wall (as I am always looking for new ideas).
He told me he was ready and brought me into the room and asked me to sit down.
First I got the rook taken out. What an ordeal (that is another story).
Then came the snug I was nervously waiting for.
We chatted about this and that and about the snug as he was getting ready. And I was just getting more and more nervous. He asked what gauge I would want but I had no idea so we settled on 14 gauge as it is easier to find different ones if I want to change it. He also mentioned that It would be a bit long to make room for swelling. I said yup I know it can hurt if it swells and there is no room so great!
He cleaned my ear first and marked where the piercing would come in and out and showed it to me. I had him change where it would exit to a bit lower and everything was great. It took a little while for him to clean off the dot and then change it and show me again (I got my snug a bit higher up then most of the ones I saw on BME). And of course I just got even more nervous.
First came the clamps. They hurt so much. He asked me if I was alright and I said yup go ahead. But the clamp moved a bit and he had to take it off and reposition it. He put the clamps on again. And again it hurt and he asked if I was alright. I said go ahead I want this done, and he said good. Then he said take a deep breath so I did and...
Ouch. It really did hurt. Not horribly so but enough for me to cling to the chair pretty hard. And of course my ear was evil and he had to give a really hard shove to get through all the way. It made to most awful noise. It was a crunching noise and it was really gross to hear. It did not hurt when he put the jewelry in and it was over. It did not really bleed which was good. He cleaned my ear up and gave me the care instructions. I asked him a few questions...which ended up being on the care sheet but he was really nice and answered them.
I know that in the future when I get another piercing I will go back to Will because he is really great at reassuring you and at what he does.
My snug looks really great and I totally love it! I would totally recommend this piercing to anyone. Though it really does hurt a bit.
