I have many piercings in my ears. I have a plan of how they should turn out once I am done. I went to get my snug done on my left ear. It was painless and Mike had done it very well. It looked so good and I could not wait for it to heal so I could go get some more stuff done. They used a 16 gauge bar bell. I had suggested to the Mike who did the piercing for me to bend the bar in the middle since that part of your ear is small and thin. My shop in Hawaii always does it like that and each one that they did for me turned out great and healed very fast. But since I am not by any means able to pierce myself or anyone else I did not really care to say anything more then that. He said it could be more painful and possibly strain the ear more if it were to do that. Maybe I should have just had him put in a hoop instead but I did not care too much at the time. My ear swelled like usual. But it still looked good. Since it is normally a very thin section he used a short bar so when the swelling went down it would not be too long and look out of place.

Well a few days after I got it done, I was messing around at home wrestling with the boys. Well I am small and I get tossed very easily. I got thrown and I hit my ear. It started to swell some more and I could not get it to stop. I iced it a lot, I even would go to sleep with ice on my ear, I was scared that if it did not stop swelling that it would eventually take over the bar. Eventually, since it hurt too much to pull at it and take out the bar bell, my ear started to swallow the ball on the outside part of the ear and the extra space that was left on my bar slowly started to get smaller and smaller as my ear continued to swell. I finally went to hot topic and bought some new jewelry to change it out. But it was so swollen now that I could barley grip the ball to unscrew it and take it out. I tried for a while to get enough grip on it to just unscrew it but all it was doing was making my ear swell more. Not mention it hurt very badly. I just decided to forget about it be cause I knew I would not be able to do it. I even had my bro try to just pull it out from the other side that was not swelling, on the inside of the ear, hoping it out just come out... Do not ever try that no matter how desperate you get, it hurt so bad I thought I was going to pee in my pants and it did not even budge a little bit. All the time my ear swelled more and more. I probably should have just called Corona tattoo and ask them what to do or what they could do but I was being stupid. I do not know if it would have made any difference if I had made him bend the bar to better fit the space or put in a hoop or something different. But because I had never heard any bad stories about this type of piercing I did not even think twice about what I could do to make the healing process go any easier.
So now a year later I still have the piercing in, and it sucks because my ear swelled so much that I finally passed up the whole length of the bar and swelled over the ball. It healed and everything just great with one little problem, the ball is still in side my ear. It is so weird looking, my ear is not thin in that spot like it should be, its almost the length of the bar, and it also has a ball that sticks out, but its funny because its under the skin. Its not so bad though I guess, because I am still too lazy to go to the doctor and have it removed. They would have to cut it out, plus I still want the piercing, so I do not want it to scar or anything where I would not be able to get it again. It only hurts sometimes but its not too bad. I just want you to know that when you go to get something done make sure you are very vocal with the artist and make sure that if there are any concerns with something that may happen you get them cleared up, and make sure you think of all the outcome so you can cover your bases. I did not care too much at first because I did not think anything too bad would have happened. I was so wrong... I defiantly would not have thought your ear would eat your piercing!
