My whole experience probably isn't that different from everyone else's but I would like to share it anyways. My parents are very strict about piercings and tattoos. I mean it took forever just to talk my mom into letting me get my upper cartiledge pierced on my ear. I don't even bother asking my dad, he doesn't like any of it, ironically though he doesn't seem to notice my ear piercings when I get them, atleast not for a long time.
At A Glance Author Emily Contact kearneygirl101@yahoo.com When A week ago Artist Joe Studio Iron Age Location The Loop in St. Louis I have 2 holes in each lobe and like mentioned before an upper cartiledge but I was getting bored, plus everyone had that done. I started searching "unique" ear piercings (as I like to call them) on the internet one day. There were so many that I had never even heard of or seen before. The anti-tragus stood out the most to me. I knew that other body piercings were definently out of the question, so I thought I would ask my mom about another ear piercing.
I brought it up to her casually over the phone, I would of done it in person but I'm going to college in St. Louis and home is in Kansas City. I was heading home for a visit that next weekend and she told me to wait and show her exactly what I wanted done. I found several pictures and gave her the presentation of a lifetime. She left me with I can't say I'm happy about it but go ahead, just don't let your dad find out.
Yeah! I waited till I got back to St. Louis to go to Iron Age Tattoo and Piercing Studio (which I highly recommend by the way). When I walked in there were two young girls looking at tattoo designs, and I could hear a needle buzzing in the back. A woman (not sure of her name) greeted me with a big smile and asked what she could do for me. I told her I wanted to get my anti-tragus pierced. She told me the price and had me fill out some forms. When I was done she hollored back to inform the piercer what I wanted. He came forward to collect me after a few minutes.
I met Joe my soon to be piercer and we got the show on the road. The studio was very clean and very professional. Everything was new. Joe got everything out and set it on the little medical table. All along chatting away like we were old friends. This enabled me to relax. The dentist like chair was very comfy. He was a bit of a perfectionist, which did not bug me the least bit at all. It took him three times of dotting my ear before he found the location he was happy with. And then he asked me what I thought of it. I told him it looked perfect. And then the part came where he told me to take a deep breath in and then out. Stick!
I'm not gonna lie getting my anti-tragus hurt like a bi*ch. But the pain was so worth it. It looks so good and it's behaved well thus far. I've only had it a week and it seems to sit so perfectly in my ear. I haven't gone home for the weekend again yet, so my mom hasn't seen it. I'm not sure what she will think. I'm the only one around the campus that I've seen that has an anti-tragus piercing. I'm glad for that, it makes it 10x more unique.
I recommend this piercing to anyone, I have a high tolerance for pain and it hurt! But it was so worth it. I know a lot of people prefer a barbell in their anti-tragus but I like my ring that I have, it just seems to fit. I can't wait to go back and get the bead changed. Or I might even try a barbell when it's okay for me to change it, just to see if I like it any better. You never know until you try. Thats my motto.
I would like to get my nose pierced one day, but knowing my family that wouldn't be a very good idea. I was also trying to think of something revealing but that doesn't leave me very many options; nipples, bellybutton, and lower down. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I've also had my eyes on tattoos (also not a good idea knowing my family) but it seems to be a phase. I like the idea sometimes and other times I don't. I wouldn't want to get something I wouldn't like later on. Thats why I'm partial to piercings. You can always take them out if you don't want them anymore. BME is such a great site by the way. I love reading all the stories and looking at all the pictures.
Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or if you just want to chat. Thanks for reading my story.
