My parents aren't too bothered about my piercings, as I've already had my lip pierced, and once I started on my ears I think they were relieved that i wasn't getting anymore facial piercings. Although my last pierced was quite troublesome (a cartalidge piercing) I decided it was time for a new one, and i wanted something different.

After seeing a vertical tragus piercing on BME, I decided it would be my next piercing. I love the way it looks, and since I've never seen one before, I knew it would make me stand out. I've previously had my tragus pierced, so I wasn't too worried about the pain, although everyone around me was saying it looked like a very painful piercing. I was determined to have it, pain or not.

After much configuration with my sister, we decided to go to birmingham. There is a place nearer to us, but it's a backroom of a shop, and my sister is convinced it's not a very clean place, where I have previously had my nipple pierced. She was considering getting her snug done, but later changed her mind once she had spoken to Chris about it. His girlfriend had just had one done, and it had rejected in only a month. My sister had already lost an eyebrow piercing, and therefore didn't want to loose any more.

We went shopping first, and whilst eating lunch, my sister's boyfriend showed me the pictures he had printed off for me (our printer is broken). The first thing he said was "that's actually on your face!", and later added "that must really hurt."

Once we got to the studio, I brought some pictures of vertical tragus piercings I had printed off from BME. I showed them to the piercer, who told me he would have to ring downstairs to get the other man up, as he hadn't performed surface piercings before (he told me if it was through my actual tragus it would be much more painful and may reject quicker). I paid them the £20 for a surface piercing, and was pleased at how cheap the piercing was (if not a little worried, but I'd had piercings done there before and never had problems). After a few minutes they had decided to use a curved micro barbell, and my boyfriend started to look very worried as they discussed whether to use a clamp on me or not. Neither my sister or my boyfriend wanted to come with me. I was scared! My boyfriend is petrified of needles, and my sister wanted to stay and discuss piercings with the other guy. So I took a deep breath and proceeded on my own.

I went down to the piercing room, and the piercer marked on where the balls would show, after assuring me that he wouldn't hurt me too much. He marked them on just where I wanted them, I had a look in the mirror and I stopped being scared and started being excited about my new piercing.

He put the clamp on, and it hurt like hell, and seemed to last forever, but luckily I didn't feel the piercing at all, as he had frozen it sufficiently, aside from a sting as the needle came out the other side. I did, however, hear the needle go through my skin, and it sort of sounded like when you step on snow. Heh. As soon as it was done, I asked "is that it?" and ran to the mirror to look at my great new piercing.

My sister then decided to get a cartilidge piercing with a spiral. She'd never had a needle piercing before, and was pretty scared. But it went well, and she's pleased with it.

It wasn't until afterwards that I learnt Chris had never performed a piercing like mine before. Both the piercers looked at it, saying it looked pretty great and that neither of them had seen one before. It stung for a while, but looked great. I was constantly looking in the mirror and admiring it, and even my boyfriend said it looks good (this is a compliment from him; he dislikes piercings, especially on my face, heh). I caught him staring at it a few times. I think he was amazed that i'd had a piece of metal put through my face.

However, I was told it will definatly reject eventually. So I'm enjoying it while it lasts. It's easy to clean and hasn't given me any hassle so far. I returned to Birmingham to get my rook pierced, and the guy checked out my piercing. Although he said it "didn't look as bad as he thought it would", it was still rejecting. I was gutted, I was still hoping that maybe it would stay in. But sadly, it will come out eventually.
