I've had the itch for a few months now, but with it being summer, I had been putting off my 'wish list' piercings until the fall. Working in a law office, I knew my piercings had to be on my ear or somewhere hidden. When I got home from work, I felt the itch BAD. I started to talking to Anthony, the guy I'm dating, and told him I wanted to get poked. Then I cleverly decided we were both going to get something pierced. We went to Fuddruckers to go grab some grub, and he reminded me about it again. We drove to Absolute, where I was hoping my usual piercer would be there, but she wasn't. Absolute is reasonable, cheap, and I haven't had any problems there so far. As a matter of fact, I got my tongue pierced there when I as 15, when the legal age back then was 16. I had no problems back then either. As we walked in, I STILL didn't know what I wanted, but when the guy (Adolph) asked what I needed, I just spit out industrial. It just came out. I had thought about it and never really dwelled on it, but it sounded good at the time. I turned and looked at Anthony, who still didn't know what to get, so I went ahead and told Adolph he wanted his labret done. I figure that's what he wanted, and he didn't complain.

I didn't think that was too bad. We had to wait for a girl to get her nose pierced, and then we were next. Adolph, I guess is the owner. He had no visible mods, strong Hispanic accent, but was down with the slang, so I was comfortable. He wanted to do the industrial first. He was actually pretty excited about it, saying it was his favorite one, because most piercers mess it up. He had overheard me saying whether or not it was gonna be horizontal or vertical, and he explained to me how it wasn't really a choice. He would have to go with the anatomy of my ear. That comforted me knowing he wasn't just going to poke holes in wherever he thought it would look good. He got out this little hand ruler type deal and started measuring the fold of my ear. I believe he said it was 3 inches. Then he started preparing all the cotton balls and needles, and while he was doing that, he was just talking and making conversation about this and that. Before I knew it, he was still talking mind you, he poked me with the needle on my upper cartilidge. That wasn't too bad but I wasn't expecting it. Before I realized the first hole had been poked, I guess he did the bottom one. I said calmly, "Ah. That kinda hurt." And Adolph was like, "you thought it was like ice cream or what? Like leche or que?" I started laughing and realized I felt the pain but was somewhat confused on how many holes he had already poked. Apparently he was done, and the part that hurt the most was when he screwed on the top ball. Oh my gosh, he like folded my ear or something, and my whole right side of my face started feeling this burning sensation. I would have to say this was one of the more painful piercings I've gotten. I don't have many but in comparison to my inverse navel, lip, and trags, this was the most painful.
Then he pierced Anthony. That went nice and smooth. It looks really nice. I liked this dude because he wasn't in a rush, and even took the time to screw on the tiny ass ball on my little stud for my lip, and he hooked us up with a grip of sea salt and Anthony with some alcohol free mouthwash. We tipped him 10 bucks for the both of us and promised him I'd be back in the next couple of weeks for my ink. For a dude dressed in black slacks and a cell phone on his hip, he was pretty kick back. We decided to go to Wal-mart to pick up some stuff, and that's when it hurt. It really, really hurt. It pissed me off it hurt so much. Then I sucked it in and put the pain in another place. Otherwise, I was probably capable of ripping the thing out and messing up my ear. I don't think my ear had ever felt pain like that. I mean, it's the whole upper part of my ear. My trags were a piece of cake, so I guess I assumed this would be too.
Today it's sore to the touch. I'm a receptionist so I forget to not answer the phone on that side of my head, but otherwise it's not unbearable pain. I think it looks cute, but definitely needs some company. I hate not having the symmetry thing goin on, so in the next few weeks, I'm going to have to get my left ear an industrial too. Hopefully no keloids will develop, but I'm sure they will. For some reason I'm prone to that. It'll be nice to be able to move my head about normally again. I never realized how much use the right side of my head was for me until now. But yeah. That is my incredibly ordinary story of the making of my industrial.
