This experience is about my self-done tragus. The reason as to why I did my tragus is actually quite weird. The whole thing started when my sister Kate kept telling me to do it because she heard that it hurts a lot more than getting your penis pierced and having pierced my penis before I decided to do my tragus to see if what she has heard is true. My mom apparently was ok with me doing it because all she did was recommended that I not do it because it was cartilage. Me being me though was determined to do it so that night I went on the site where I normally purchase my jewelry and piercing supplies and ordered needles and a few different size cbr's. The next day I went and sent out the money order and waited for a few days for it to come in the mail. While I was waiting for the stuff to come I kept contemplating on which ear I was going to put it in. Finally the day before the stuff came I decided to do it in my left ear.
At last on Friday my stuff finally came. I did as I usually do and checked to make sure that everything was there and was what I wanted then decided on which ring I was going to use. After a few hours of pumping myself up to do it I went to my bathroom then cleaned and disinfected all of the stuff and cleaned my ear. Then put on my gloves and checked where I wanted to pierce and put the cork behind for stability. This was quite stupid. I should've used clamps on this piercing. As a matter of fact, I shouldn't have done this piercing myself as I couldn't line it up correctly from not being able to see it properly. So I started to steadily push through. This hurt like hell. As I started to push through the cartilage I heard a little pop and the pain just escalated. I wanted to yell but since my mom had no idea that I was doing it I held it in. I took a small break to take a look and to see if it was going through straight. Since I was using a cork to stabilize it, it made it look like it was going in crooked. So I got pissed and without finishing the piercing, took the needle out. Cleaned up my ear and checked and it actually seemed to be going straight. The pain was really bad at this point so I took some pain killers and laid down until the pain was pretty much gone.
About 45 minutes later the pain was still there and I was just frustrated so I went back to my bathroom and started to repierce. It oddly didn't hurt as much as the first time. I was doing it without the cork this time. I just held my finger on the back to stablize it a little bit which helped significantly. I pretty quickly I had made it through the cartilage and just took one deep breath and shoved it the rest of the way through. Now it was time to get the jewelry in. This was pretty difficult. The cbr I had chose wasn't opened enough for me to get it in so I used a size a little bit larger. I had to stick the needle back through since the hole had strangely closed up some and then stuck the jewelry in. It went it without any problems. I decided to keep the ball off since I didn't feel like dealing with the pain of putting it on. I cleaned up my new piercing and looked at it. Unfortunately it was a little crooked but you couldn't tell at all so I just left it in. That night I went to the movies and had very little pain but when I got home and cleaned it again, there was so much pain but when it was time to go to sleep, I slept on that ear which really helped a lot. Now it's nearly 24 hours since I did the piercing and my mom has yet to figure out/notice that I have a new piercing. There is very little pain from my new piercing but unfortunately while writing this experience my ring fell out and I had to stick the needle back through so I can get a ring in. Quite funny to me actually. I have taken a few pictures with my crappy webcam and uploaded them http://www.joeykh.us/tragus I appologize for the lack of quality in the pictures.
Like always, I highly recommend to not do your own piercings. Please do your research if you still attempt to do it yourself!
