After having my tongue stretched to a 6g, my parents said that I could not have any more piercing's until I turn 18, which is in less than a year. They said that my tongue, conch, lobes, and double naval were enough for the time being. However I, being as hardheaded as I am, thought I could squeeze one, well, two more piercing's out of them. I desperately wanted (and still want) the sides of my naval pierced. But alas, my parents said there was zero chance of that happening. In desperation, I asked if I could get something in my ear pierced. They agreed to consider, since I was beginning to do good in school, going from F's to C's to A's in some of my classes. After school let out, I sat around the house day in and day out (since I don't have any friends or a job). I get bored very easily, so physical work wears the boredom out of me. I put together all the chairs and tables my mother buys, I clean the backyard, occasionally clean the inside of the house, and so on and so forth.

When I'm not doing that, I'm on the computer, pouring over BME or my IAM page. I looked at all the ear piercing's and decided I wanted my rook pierced. It's not something that most people have around where I live, and I thought it looked most precious. So I brought up the subject again and it was agreed that I could get my rook pierced. The next obstacle was deciding when I should get it done. My parents said I should wait about two weeks, because I had senior pictures coming up and they were worried about the possibility that it would get infected and maybe show in my picture. After some debate, they said I could get it done whenever. So the next day, my dad said he would take me. I got my birth certificate and we drove down to Linden.

The shop I go to, Physical Graffiti, is on a busy road, so we pulled over on a side street and walked down. When we got in, I noticed that they did some heavy remodeling since I was last there. They took over the store next to them and expanded, one side for tattooing, one side for piercing. Carrier, one of the piercers, was arranging a drawer of jewelry, and asked what I wanted. I said I wanted my rook pierced and we gave her all the ID and she gave us some forms to fill out. Then she went into the back room to copy everything. After my dad and I filled out the forms, Carrie came back out and had me pick a bead for the jewelry. Then she went back to clean and prep everything. A minute later she came out and we all walked back into the room. My dad stood to the side holding my purse, and made stupid faces at me when Carrie wasn't looking,. That's my dad for you. I sat on the chair and Carrie started to clean my ear. I wasn't that nervous, since she pierced my conch awhile ag o and I had zero pain. Then she took a paper towel and put it on my shoulder in case my ear would bleed. She dipped a toothpick in a small cup of ink and marked my ear. I checked it out and it was perfect. She explained that she was going to do it freehand because my rook was too small to clamp. Then she took a 16g needle out of the packaging and lubed it up. She lined the needle up, and started to push it through. My rook must have been hard to get through, because her hand shook a little from pushing so hard. Finally it was through, and I was shocked that there was absolutely no pain. Just a slight pressure.

After the needle was through, she got out the jewelry (a 16g captive bead ring) and threaded it through, then threw out the needle in the sharps box. There was no throbbing or heat sensation at all and before I knew it, the bead was in place and Carrie was cleaning the few drops of blood from my ear. I stood up and thanked her and she gave me the cleaning care sheet, as well as some anti microbial soap and sea salt. As we were walking back to the main room my dad was marveling that I didn't even flinch. Then he told Carrie, as he was paying the $50, that this was my reward for shoveling stones in the backyard. She said that he made out, since it would have cost a hell of a lot more than $50 to pay someone to move the stone. I took a couple business cards (I have no money in my wallet, so I fill it up with business cards) and thanked Carrie again, and we were on our merry way. In the car, my dad kept saying how 'cute' it looked and how it wasn't even red. I suspect that had something to do with not using clamps. When we got home, my mom said it was really nice.

Now, it's been about a week since I've had it pierced. I clean it with anti microbial soap about four times a day, and do a sea salt soak every other day. There's no redness, and the only pain is if it gets hit by accident. I can even sleep on my ear, since it's kind of in my ear. I have no regrets about getting it pierced. However, I'd only recommend it to people who will clean it religiously, even if it's tight to turn, which mine is. Carrie told me that rook piercing's get like that. Even so, I soap it up with warm water until it turns nicely, and I can really clean it. It's definitely one of my favorite ear piercing's now!
