I know what you're thinking "here is yet another 'stupid' do it yourselfer." Think what you want. The reason I do 99% of my own piercing is because I'm not old enough to go get them done professionally being a 16 year old in the "great" state of West Virginia and no one will sign for me except when it's a cold day in hell. Only happened once by the way. It was my helix to helix industrial. I've done my own lobes, my conch, my helix, both nipples and my frenum which you will hopefully soon be able to read once I have them wrote which should be in a week or so depending on the time I have free. I do plan on doing a few more piercings this summer which include a pair of apadydoes, my septum, tragus, rook, labret and tip of my tongue. Once I do these, pictures and experiences will soon follow. My parents are limiting to me piercing my ears only but I'm doing all of those some how. I'm looking at ways to hide them.

Anyways, this experience is about my most recent piercing. My transversal lobe. Well one day I was just browsing BME like I always am and I stumbled upon a section for transversal lobes. It seems cool to me and basically I had wanted to do a new and "different" piercing. I did my research like I always do for my piercings and decided that I was going to go for it. First I had to seek approval from my mom. I decided it'd be best to just mention to her I'd like to pierce my lobe again not telling her exactly how but mentioning it to be just a lobe piercing. Then asking her if she had anything against this. I decided to ask this out of nowhere pretty much. I asked her late at night when she was going to bed and she was fine with the idea and only said "Don't do it tonight" which I didn't of course.

So on to the piercing. Luckily I had a new 14 gauge needle. I decided I was going to use a 7/8" barbell. So I sterilized the barbell as best as I could and cleaned up my ear. I had held up the barbell to my ear before doing all of this and marked where I wanted it. Thinking that it would bleed less if I didn't attempt to numb it, I just went ahead and started the piercing without numbing. I tried going from the inner part of the lobe. Stupidly I just barely broke the surface the blood started pouring out of the hole. So I had quit this attempt because I couldn't get it to stop bleeding. Being stupid again I decided to pierce it again immediately afterwards when I had atlast got the bleeding to stop. Once again I just barely broke through and the blood had started pouring out so I called it a day.

After talking to a few people and reading more transversal experiences and read about a selfdone one I was ready to attempt it again. So I did all of that stuff again. But this time I decided to numb it. Also, this time I decided to go from the outside. I started to pierce with steady pressure. Got the needle about 1/5 of the way in and stopped to check it was going straight so I didn't mess up. Then I started piercing again with once again steady pressure and finished it but making sure it was going straight. And finally broke through the last layer of skin then the needle was through my ear.

I then took the needle out and strangely enough there was absolutely very little blood unlike my first attempt. So I stuck the barbell in and screwed on the ball and noticed that it was too long so after a little bit of swearing I got a 3/4" barbell. (1/8" smaller) and prepped it and took the one I had out and put this one in and it was a perfect fit. I cleaned up around the area and that was that. Sleeping that night was fine with minimal pain. After a day or so my lobe swelled up and a week later it's still swelled up but the swelling is going down. So far, I'm very pleased with my piercing! My mom however doesn't really like it but she did say I could do my lobe. She claims that it looks too cluttered. I don't think it does. Everyone else thinks it's awesome. She'll get over it like she does all of my ear piercings. Well thanks for reading and I hope to have many more experiences and eventually pictures for you to enjoy.

Importantly, I do not recommend doing your own piercings. It is a stupid idea if you're not sure of what you're doing!
