I had seen the tragus piercing before, but I hadn't really considered getting it done myself.

My mother and I were out one day and I asked her if we could go check out the price on a helix piercing. She said that would be okay if we just went a saw how much it would cost. I decided to check out Maine Tattoo because the previous place I had went to get my eyebrow and nose done had been really expensive.

So we drove to Brewer and went to Maine Tattoo. The owner, Ken, came up to me and asked me what I would like done. I told him I was thinking about my helix done with a spike. He told me that it might not be good for me with a spike because I had long hair. He began recommending piercings that would be cool and not get ripped out.

My mom and I left to go get some money. My mom told me that I had might as well get it done now because I wanted it (she actually thinks it's cool that I get piercings, she likes to get them herself).

We returned back to the parlor and Ken greeted us again. I couldn't decide on what I wanted so he helped me decide on getting my tragus done. Sitting in the chair he made small talk with me about music and piercings. He asked me what side I slept on and I told him.

Except the problem is, I don't really sleep on a side. So that is one drawback I have, I toss and turn so sometimes I wake up sleeping on the side and I freak and have to turn over really quick. I asked him if it was going to hurt a lot and he said it'd hurt less than a punch in the face. He was really fun and made me feel really relaxed.

I remember sitting in the chair and staring at the wall waiting for him to prepare the needle. When he pierced it, I didn't know he had actually pierced it. I thought he was pinching my ear for some reason. I told him that hurt was less than my nose, he was looking all around for my nose piercing but I told him I ripped it out. The was his face looked when I told him that made me feel really tough. But, one bad thing happened. My hair curls up in the rain and when he pierced it, it pulled my hair through and when he tried to pull the hair out, it ripped the needle out. It took him a couple minutes to get it back it. He was putting pressure on my head and he kept asking if I was okay and calling me dear. I couldn't feel any pain at all. He put the ring in. When he was done, he gave me a mirror to show me his work, I was so enthused by the awesome job he had done. It was incredible. I am not sure how much it had bled, but I remember telling me that he was cleaning my ear so it didn't look like I came from a slaughterhouse.

We went back to the front counter and I paid, it only cost me fifteen dollars, my eyebrow cost forty-five! He gave me the "I Love My Piercing" spray. I thanked him so many times. I loved this new piercing.

I wish I could remember the other guys name who helps when my hair got caught in the piercing. I feel bad about not remembering his name...

The only real problem I've had besides sleeping is my brother. I don't recommend getting a piercing on your ear if you have a brother who likes to body slam you. My brother has hit it a couple times and laughed, but it didn't do anything to my piercing.

I've had it done for about a week now, and I feel no pain with it. I wash it two to three times a day and use the spray. The spray numbs your ears a little and takes away the throbbing I sometimes get. It's a really good spray. I believe it's mineral based.

I have one bad habit that I need to stop. I always have the urge to twist the ring, and I know you're not supposed to touch it unless you're cleaning it, but it seems to have no effect on my ear.

I usually use an antibacterial soap, I've seen a lot of people say not to use it, but it seems to really help on my ear. It's really hard to clean behind the piercing though, because on me it's the most tender part.

If anyone happens to be in the Brewer area, I highly recommend going to this parlor and getting your tragus done. It's painless and it looks cool!
