When It just happened
Artist Joe
Studio Bolder Ink
Location Boulder Colorado
So a couple of days ago my friend Nash had been talking about how he wanted to get a new piercing, so I told him that for his birthday I would pay for it. Since I knew I was going to be going to the studio I bought a pair of 0 gage acrylic double flair plugs, and figured since I was going to be at the studio I would have Joe stretch my ears for me. So the day came and I called to see if Nash still wanted to get something done and he said yeah but that he had stuff to do so we better go at 3. I had time to kill so I went to run some errands I got home burned a CD for Joe and off we went to Boulder Ink.

I thought it was just going to be Nash and I, but Jaden and Sarah decided to tag along which always makes for a good time. By the time we got to Bolder Ink (which is a 20min drive) he still hadn't decided what he wanted so I said I would get my ears stretched first. We went up to the studio and I was greeted with my normal greeting like I'm Norm from Cheers or something. We stood around bullshitting with the artist for a while and then I asked how much it would cost for the stretch and Joe said not to worry about it that for me it was free. So I showed him what I wanted to put in and since it was 0 double flare plugs he made sure I knew that he was going to have to stretch up to a 00 and then put the 0's in. I told him I wouldn't expect anything less and he headed to the back to get ready.

He got set up and we all came back. Now up to this point I had been calm. Until I saw the massive silver bullet he was going to be pushing in my ear. Everyone in the room saw it and the immediately became nervous for me. I was still calm but slightly frightened, but I knew I could handle it so he took out the 2 gage plugs I had in and cleaned my ears up. He then rubbed some Vaseline on my ear and started to rub Vaseline over the entire taper to make sure it would go through nice and easy. He got in position and told me "nice and easy slow deep breathes." Jaden was like "oh I don't like to hear that they only say that when it's going to hurt like a bitch." I told her to shut up because she was going to make me laugh Joe asked if I was ready and then he started to push it through he got the plug in and the first one was over. I won't lie it hurt like hell it wasn't anything I couldn't handle but it's not the most comfortable feeling in the world. He was like oh there's a littl e blood and I saw him dive for a paper towel. I could tell from the looks on everyone's face that it was more than just a little blood, but that didn't bother me. Joe was like you tore a little and there's a tiny bit of scare tissue that pushed through, don't worry in a couple days it will dry up and fall off and you wont be able to tell. He asked me how I was doing and I told him I wasn't in any pain but I was a little woozy because I hadn't eaten, he offered me something to drink but I had a DR. Pepper in my purse and drank some of that so I would get some sugar in my system before the next ear. He continued to clean me up as the pile of bloody Q-tips began to get monstrous. The bleeding finale slowed down and he cleaned up and went to get the stuff for the second ear.

He came back in and got his stuff laid out and then took my other plug out cleaned me up. Lubed up the beast and got in position. Again he told me nice slow deep breathes and he waited and was like "are you breathing damn it? I don't need you to pass out pass out on me you've told me stories about how you get when you don't eat and get pierced." We all started laughing and I explained to him since I'm a singer that when he says slow deep breathes he's going to get slow deep breathes. I can breathe in for a count 40 and exhale for a count of 40. He was like "good to know for next time I always think your holding your breath every time I pierce you." So he got back in position and the he started to push through. I could tell he may have had a little trouble because this one took a little longer but it was less painful. He dove for more paper towels and was like "Wow good job you handled that well." He asked how that one felt and I told him it was less painful then the first on e and he was surprised because it tore a little more than the other one had. He finished cleaning that ear up and told me "Baby Doll your going to want to pamper these things like there brand new. They both have issues with the tissue on your right one and there tare on this one." I told him no problem and then Nash and Sarah got there rooks done. Joe noticed that I had blood pooling up and said "Honey take a seat we need to clean you up some more." He cleaned both ears. Jaden got her helix done and we took off.

Later that night at Happy Hour I had to dab my left ear with a napkin a couple times. Around 10 at my sister I pulled a huge chunk of dried blood and was slightly grossed out. But things have been going well since yesterday I have cleaned them twice and there looking great. I would recommend this stretch to anyone but beware of double flared plugs. Because every time I stretch with them I bleed.
