I've been looking forward to getting a new piercing for some time now but I wasn't quite sure on what I wanted. I really wanted my tongue done but my parents wouldn't sign for it... yeah parents are like that sometimes. I've had many different piercing since I started getting into them such as dual 00 gauge in my ears, few different styles of orbital, tragus, eyebrow, bridge, nipple (last 3 done by me with a sewing needle, I wouldn't recommend anyone doing these by themselves and getting them professionally done) but one kind of piercing that I always got but it always seemed to get messed up was anything in the cartilage. I've had my cartilage pierced about 3 times in each ear and each time it got infected or got ripped around to much when I was messing around with friends. But none the less I decided to give it another try I decided to get an industrial done in my upper left ear.

After my parents complained about me getting it done because they didn't want to see me waste all the money on a piercing I was just going to take out in a month I decided to go ahead with it anyways because it was a piercing I've seen on many people before and one that I have wanted for a very long time but I never got because just the thought of getting two holes in my cartilage at once would be a great amount of pain but hey I'm always up for a new experience so no matter what anyone said I had my mind set on getting this piercing done.

So I went down to Twisted Ink in Adams, MA and I didn't have an appointment so I was waiting for about a hour while some little girl that was about 11 years old was getting her eyebrow done. Finally when the guy was done I talked to him a little bit, told him how I wanted to get an industrial he told me how he had two industrials before going from the top to the bottom of his ear he also told me a little trick that when I am sleeping I should curl my arm around my ear so the ear doesn't touch the pillow or anything so no pressure gets put on it which shortens the healing time.

So he took into the piercing room where his assistant took out all the needles and barbells and all that good stuff and told him the trick to doing an industrial which I forgot about 2 minutes after he said it so I cant really tell anyone it. As the apprentice was being told what to do I was talking to my mom and all she could say was how crazy I was to be getting this. Even though I had all those other piercing this was the only one she came along for so she was totally freaked on how calm I was because she was telling me how nervous she was on all her ear piercing. So the guy told me the procedure of what was about to happen just to make sure that I still wanted it. So he measured the placement I wanted and it turned out to be 33mm but they didn't have that size so I had to go with a smaller 30mm barbell instead.

He started to lube the needle and get everything ready as I sat there and tried not to think about the needle. Then he came over clamped my ear and the first hole didn't hurt as much as I thought it would I barely felt it. He asked if I was all right that he kept going with the second hole I said sure no problem and that it barely hurt when he did the first hole. The second one was a little more difficult because the clamp for some reason wasn't staying in place so after about a minute of him pulling and yanking on my ear with a needle threw one hole he just grabbed the ear and pushed it threw without the clamp. Even after all the yanking and pulling this hole didn't hurt much either.

The guy told me the after care and that I should use Dial soap and make sure that was the only thing that I used on it, I never heard about that before since I usually just used some rubbing alcohol on all my piercing, but I figured he is the professional so I should do what he says. So I ran down to Wal-Mart and picked up the biggest bottle of Dial soap that I could find. Its been about a month and I still have the industrial even after a few boxing matches and getting slammed and even bending the original barbell and it's still healthy.
