I moved to Italy 5 months go to live with my dad. It's really boring here..nothing to do. So I was looking for something to entertain myself when I thought about piecing my self. At first I dismissed the idea. I thought.. your crazy lady shut up and just watch TV or something but the thought stayed with me and I must have gotten up to looking the mirror a hundred times. I read and slept and went through the whole day still thinking about it. I eventually went to bed and the next day I still wanted to do it. So I gave up and said fine ill do it.
Well.. I've always wanted to pierce my self. I've seen friends do it plenty of times. Every time I thought they were nutty. But it never seemed to hurt but I hadn't dared to try it on my self or even think about it until now. So I asked my self. What should I pierce? I thought about doing my nose again or the side of my lip. But I didn't want to do it wrong and screw myself over. I decided to do my ears. I already had 8 holes there ad I was wondering where I was going to put the 9th when I noticed the "little floppy thing". I wondered what hell is this and will it hurt to do. I found out it was call my tragus. I came to this site and a few others to look up tragus piercing. I had a good little debate with my self about it but in the end I decided to go for it. It wouldn't be that hard to do by my self. I jut needed a needle, an earring, and a mirror and id be set to go.
So I examined the area. Deciding where to start and what to pierce it with. What did people use? Just and ear ring or a needle or what? I was kind of nervous and was wondered if I should numb it with ice. Then I couldn't find a needle so the first side I did with a safety pin then put the earring I after. That was a little painful because I had problems getting it through the back. It took me a good 5 minutes. Afterwards it was a bit painful but not to bad. I expected a lot of pain. There was hardly any. It took a bit to get the ear ring all the way through but when I finely did I had the biggest feeling of self-accomplishment. Woohoo I had done my first self-piercing.
A week or so later I did the other side. But this time I just pierced it with an earring. The kind that you get your ears pierced with. The ends nice and sharp. This was much less painful because I didn't have to take it out and try to get the earring in the brand new hole. It took a while as well to get all the way through. And it sounds weird because there are these popping noises, as it gets farther through that part of the ear. So now they match. I have to have things match. I'm weird.
It's been about a month. And they're nice and healed. There's no lasting pain and I never had any "complications" other then having a little bit of discomfort for the first week or do when id put my head phones on or sleep on my side. Which wasn't too bad. Id dealt with that before. They never got infected. Which is a blessing. But it's kind of weird to clean then award place and I end up getting water in my ear.
I've done my ears a few times after that and never regretted it. I want to do my rook as well but it's a bit awkward so ill probably end up going an getting it done. But simple piercings id rather do my self. Why pay 20 pucks when I can just do it. Not only do I have more piercings I've saved my self money.. and I've thought about becoming a professional piercer when I get back to California. That or maybe a tattoo artist both would be awesome. I only worry about money and stuff like that. Maybe ill do it as a hobby...who knows. I'm young I've got all my life to live..why not try doing different things.
I don't know what else to say. Maybe I'm lucky that I didn't have any "complications". What a mess that would have been. I don't recommend for everyone to copy what I did it might go horribly wrong. It is of course dangerous to do. Maybe it doesn't seem like it cause it's just your ears but theres still that possibility you screw your self over by doing it.
