Well, my tragus piercing experience all started at a Dollar General buying cheap Christmas lights. As we walked the aisles I found myself thing about my friend and her new set of ear lobe rings. I thought about how long it had been since the last time I got metal shoved through me and I decided I wanted something new and unusual. I turned to my mom and asked her if I could get the "flappy thing" in my ear pierced (at the time I did not know its proper name) she hesitated a little bit but agreed. I was eager to go and extremely excited when I found out I wasn't going to have to call my dad and ask for his approval.

It was the day after Thanksgiving and it was extremely cold outside. We decided we loved Earthborn so much we couldn't go anywhere else for a piercing (I got my cartilage done there). So we piled in the car and drove across town to pick up my moral support my cousin Erin.
When we arrived at the shop the jitters started to set in. We paid the fifty dollars to the cashier who was very nice and waited for the piercer to finish up with his last customer. They had a huge fish tank that got my mind off of the upcoming events after all this is supposed to be the most painful piercing. It was taking longer than I expected so I wondered the shop looking at the glass cases full of jewelry and the rubber body parts showing you where you can put that jewelry. Then we looked through the books full of pictures of piercings they have done in the past. I was impressed by the variety of piercing he could do. Just about that time Josh walked out and told me to come in the room.
He told me to sit on the flat padded table while he got out the stuff making me laugh the whole time. I was disappointed that Erin couldn't be in there supporting me but the experience was going well so far anyways. My mom asked him a ton of questions involving what piercings he had done on himself and he was still making us laugh hysterically.
Next, he dipped a toothpick and marked my tragus with purple ink. He told me to lie down and kept comforting me telling me it wouldn't be bad. He explained to me exactly how he was going to put the needle through my ear and that he wasn't going to go to fast or the pain would be a lot worse. I wasn't really listening because my nerves were so high.
Finally he put the needle through. It went in the back of my tragus and out of the front where it was caught in a tube. Then he inserted the jewelry and but the ball on it. All in all it wasn't really too painful. I've gone through worse things. He went through the aftercare with me it was to be washed with provon one to two times daily and after a few days twisted. He took a picture of my new fantastic piercing and we made our way out of the room where I was met by my cousin who said I was crazy for going through that (she's not to in to the whole body modification thing). I walked out of the shop feeling very proud of my new metal but the cold air stung my poor tragus.
About a month after my piercing I noticed a piece of dead skin hanging right next to my ring. I tried to ignore it for a while but the temptation to pick it off was too strong and I finally had to take the dead skin off. Then a few months after that incident I noticed my tragus was bleeding out of the hole. I just kind of brushed it off like no big deal and wiped it off with warm water but the blood "crusties" kept coming back often. I kept on leaving it alone but looked at it often. It seems like it worsened within like a half hour time frame. I was in the car with my mom one day on my way home and I reached up to twist it and I felt a big welp over it. So, I looked in the mirror and noticed a bubble of blood over top of it. I know this is gross and I know I probably shouldn't have but when I got home I poked at it until it busted. There was a bloody scab like thing over the hole for about a week and a half but after that it looked totally fine and has ever since.
I'm so proud of my tragus piercing and so happy I did it. I think all the stuff I went through was totally worth it. I just love it when people look at me and have to ask questions about it.
