This is my story that will hopfully help out those who are interested in getting a rook piercing. I was told it hurts so bad and this that and the other. And it doesnt hurt, for me at least, anymore than a regular cartilage piercing. I totally love my rook. Its hidden and adorable, and hasnt cuased me any problems ever. The only thing that happens is my bent barbell gets turned in and Ive got to get something to get in there and turn it back out. Thats it. The part of the cartilage that the jewelry is through looks rather thin, and almost looks like it would/could rip out somethings. BUt its not that thin. And it swells from time to time when you bang it around, or it i sleep with it turned in it gets a bit purple, but thats just from the pressure on it. I like it so much. I want so many more!

I got my rook piercing done April 15th (I think) of this year. I had been all pumped to get it done for about 2 months. I went in to Poker Face to talk to Greg about getting a rook done, for the first time about 2 months before I actually got it done. See, Greg didn't have any curved needles in the gauged I needed 16, he was out. So he orders some, along with other supplies he needed, and the nice guys from Pittsburg just didn't send some of the stuff he needed. So Greg tells me ok next week, for about 3-5 weeks. But I knew I wanted him to do it, hes done full back tattoos of my friends, one of my ex boyfriends 6 tattoos, a lot of my friends piercings and tattoos, so I trusted him, plus i hung out there last summer and had a thing for him. So shoot me.

Anywho, me and my boyfriend Jeff go in one night on a whim, he said that he could do it with a straight but it woould hurt more and the cbr he had was 18 (i wanted 16 or 14). And anyone who knows anything about cart piercings knows that its no fun to put a ring in a hole done with a straight needle. I should mention that Greg was gonna do it for free since he'd put me off so long. And my intentions were to put a bent barbell in after is healed anyways. Greg, said that if i wanted to I could get my own bent barbell and he'd pierce it and put that jewelry in for me. So i sent my boyfriend to this store in the mall, and he got me a bent barbell for 2 bucks, and then we went to the studio.

Greg looked at it, put the marks I dont think I approved it but I had talked to him about where I wanted it and how I wanted it to lay and all that jazz. He cleaned everything, asked if I was cool, I was pumped. He said, Alirght, 1 2 and 3 the needle was in. All i felt was the needle go in and then come out. Not pain like everyone had told me. I was told it hurt so bad, maybe their piercer wasn't as good as Greg *props to him*. Then he put the barbell in, and the only twinge of pain was putting the cone on. He was like "Damn if Id known it was that easy I wouldnt of..." so i think he was scared of hurting me, or thought it would hurt. Which it didn't really. I was like holy shit! I loved it! It was a bit sore, and warm, and pink, but thats expected.

Its now a month and a half later, and its fine. I could play with it regularly and turn it about 2 weeks after. About the sea salt soaks, i only do them when its sore, or too pink in my eyes. Its not given me any problems, and I really am considering getting a double on the right side. I love it, and my parents havent seen it. Its nice and hidden but when people see it they normal go, "oh my god, didnt that hurt?" Oh, also, one day at about 3 in the morning after going out with my boyfriend and getting my ear bumped around *we'd gone to a concert* he suggested that i put some neosporine with pain reliever on it. (the reason he knew about it? I'm a biter...and I guess one day while caught in the throws of passion bite a nice piece of his nipple off. Opps! heehee) It helped the healing along a lot. I love my rook, it different, almost pain free, and uber cute. And if you wanna know anymore, email me. Or im on AIM: fuzzylinz16
