I really like piercings but I don't want to get to many. I stick just to my ears because they aren't that noticeable. I like piercings because you can take them out, unlike tattoos which you are stuck with for life. I had both my ears pierced double and my cartilage. I got my left tragus pierced a while ago and I kind of wanted another ear piercing. I had heard that the tragus was one of the most painful ear piercings, so I figured I'd already experienced the most pain so why not try something else.
At A Glance Author britt Contact britt@bme.anon When A month ago Studio Art Apocolypse Location Athens, ohio My tragus took forever to heal and that was the only thing I was worried about with getting another piercing. I was debating on what to get and where to get it. I really liked the look of the inner conch piercing, it was really different and I'd seen very very few people with it so I decided to go for it. I decided to go to the same place that I got my tragus done I liked the girl that worked there. Both of the girls I was with had also been there, Amanda got her cartilage pierced and Carla got her tongue pierced, so we were familiar with the place. It also made me feel better that the piercer would be a girl, it made me feel more comfortable.
I went with two of my friends for support. I wanted to make sure that it could be pierced using a barbell, not a ring because I didn't like how it looked with a gigantic ring. She looked at my ear and said that she could do it with a barbell...so I paid and headed back to the piercing room. I asked about the pain level, I said how i had heard that the tragus was the most painful, apparently I was mistaken. She told me that the conch was a lot more painful..but it was too late for me to back out now. She showed me the needle it was pretty large and it made me more nervous. She said that the needle would make a hole a little larger than the barbell she was putting in, just incase of swelling.
She put a little dot on my inner ear and moved it a couple times until I liked the spot.
I held my friend Carla's hand when she pierced me. It hurt real bad...a lot worse than my tragus. I could just feel the needle go through my skin, and it was cartilage so it was thick and hard. Despite the pain it bleed a little but not that much. I looked at it in the mirror and it looked weird and I didn't know if I really liked it at first. But that's how I felt with my tragus at first, I just need to get used to new piercings.
My friend Carla told me she thought it was really cute. What kind of bothered me was that the back of the barbell came out at a weird place on the back of my ear. Also the barbell was really long and there was an excess of metal poking out the back of my ear. Besides that however I was happy with it. The first couple days it was really painful and hurt to clean it. I used bottle of stuff I got at the piercing place and cleaned it with a q-tip.
I tend to like to play with new piercings and often would twist it around, which isn't good and can cause infection..but it's so hard to leave it alone. So far I haven't had any problems with it. With my tragus I got this huge gross bump which wouldn't go away for a while, but I haven't had that with my conch.
Well its been around a month now and I really like it. It's healing up pretty well it's still tender and hurts if I bump it but other than that it's doing well. I've gotten a lot of comments on it, most of them are "wow that looks painful". A lot of people tell me they never have seen that kind of piercing, I like it that it is original. I want to switch the earring but I am having a real hard time finding one that is the right size. Most of the ones I find are way to long and would stick out to much. I am presently trying to find a cute little barbell.
Overall I am very happy with my piercing :) I would really recommend the inner conch piercing if you can handle some pain. I'm a real wimp when it comes to pain and I did it so I'm sure it would be a lot easier on others. Also it's really original and I like that a lot.
