Well, the wonderful world of rooks! It all happened a couple of days ago. I just graduated high school on the 4th so part of my graduation present was getting my ears pierced. I went kind of all out. I decided to get my rook, my tragus, and a second hole in each lobe; which is 4 in one day. (I also wrote about my lobe piercings and my tragus piercing, but I think this one is the most informative ha-ha.) It was a toss up between the rook and the daith, but I decided I liked the rook a lot more so obviously that was what I went with! I have wanted both of these piercings for a really long time now. My mom originally thought it was a "freaky" piercing but they are really cute to me. Especially the tragus, it is really quite feminine and its not a quote on quote freaky piercing. Unfortunately enough for me I have heard a lot of gross stories about the rook and the tragus. I have heard everything from the fact that you hear your ear pop when it gets pierced, to it bleeds and puss es. Gross stuff. Not to mention the fact that it hurt like all hell! Well I decided to find out the hard way because everyone is different. Some people told me that getting their belly buttons really hurt like all hell, please! That did not hurt at all, so I figured why not, I will see what this is one all about.

Even though I had my ID my passport and my mom had her ID, they wouldn't let me get anything done because I did not have my birth certificate. So we had to drive all the way back home to get my birth certificate and then we came back. THEN we found out that Fondue didn't take checks so we had to leave again and go and get 90 dollars out for the piercings. It was aggravating, but it took my mind off of the piercings so I wasn't as scared anymore. This was a good thing, because I was freaked out! I talked to the girl at the counter about rook and tragus piercings and she had both done. She said neither of them really hurt when you got them pierced they just got really hot. Which I didn't mind. So Joe, the piercer, told me to lay down on the bed which was weird I though I would be sitting, but he told me to lay there. Before I was in the piercing room I picked out my barbell for the rook and he cleaned it for awhile. I was starting to get really freaked out at this point, because I was in the room. Sometimes piercing places just remind me of doctor's offices. They are creepy. So I was lying down and he cleaned out my ear and just told me to take a deep breath and he pushed the needle through. I am sorry to say it, it hurt a lot! But the pain only lasted like 5 seconds, and then it was over. This is how most piercings are though, so you shouldn't be too surprised!
But holy moly kajolies. It was a really pretty painful piercing in my opinion; I am not going to lie. It hurt really badly. Now I would definitely not let someone's opinion on the pain factor of a piercing persuade me because everyone is different. At the same time I am not going to sit here and say oh my god it did not hurt at all, because it definitely did. It was my most painful piercing so far. I only have 8, but it was my most painful one. Tragus was second. A big plus is that it does not hurt at all to sleep on; believe it or not I don't even feel it when I sleep. This is good because I am a side sleeper! It does hurt a lot to clean but oh well. The after affect of this piercing is nothing. Me and my boyfriend were playing around the other day and he accidentally tapped my ear, and I was freaked out it would hurt, I felt nothing. It seems like it has already healed. This is definitely more than I can say for the tragus!! It is a great piercing and it is really cute. I think if you are thinking of getting your rook pierced you definitely should! Also, it is really cute if you get a barbell. I don't like rings in rooks, but that is jus my opinion. Get it pierced, you will not regret it! :o)
