I've been into piercings and mod's for a while now, and have done many myself, (lip twice, ears, just normal stuff) when I decided I wanted a professionally done piercing to represent my end year. So, I looked through all the different types of piercings, and came across the Industrial. I had been eyeing the industrial for a while but never really considered getting one. So, I went in the next day to Bear's.

She recommended a helix, and i asked her if I could do something more outstanding with it.
She gave me many ideas, but the Triple Helix Spike stood out the most. I figured I could get some done now, and then add more onto my ear during the next while. Sounds good.
So I went home, talked to my mom, took forever to convince her. (I printed off many pictures of what it would look like, how it would feel, how to take care of it, and the parent consent forms to fill out at Bear's) I did it! She was convinced. We booked an appointment for the next Thursday.
I went in with two of my friends and waited patiently for Bonni to give me the Okay to go in. My friend's were almost more nervous than I was. My nerves really didn't kick in until Bonni called me 5 minutes later. I could barely stand up cause of the adrenaline.
I sat down in a dentist-like chair, with the tools all bagged beside me on a tray. Bonni put on a pair of latex gloves and marked three purple marks on my ears. I looked at them in the mirror and gave them the go ahead. She then removed her gloves and put on another pair. She laid the chair down and told me to breathe in deeply.
1...2....3... *POKE* *CRUNCH* The crunch was heard by even my friend Allyson who refused to watch and was sitting around the corner. My friend Lauren on the other hand, found it quite entertaining. Bonni switched gloves again, and put the jewelry through and screwed the spike on. It was now time for Spike 2.
Another change of gloves, and needle. Breathe in deeply. Okay. 1...2.. *POKE**CRUNCH* ... 3.... I could hear Allyson squeal from around the corner... he he. At this point my ear was getting really sore and really hot, but I grit my teeth and bared it. Time for the third spike.
Yet another switch of gloves and needle. Breathe in deeply... okay. 1... 2.... 3........... *POKE**CRUNCH* this one hurt ALOT more than the other two. But hey, it was worth it.
I stayed laying down for about 2 minutes after (head rush) and then I got up and showed my mom. She didn't like it at ALL, but needless to say she couldn't change it. We went to the counter to Morgan (receptionist) and he complimented me on my new Triple Helix Spikes.
He said that in a few years time I may be able to get my Industrial if my ears grow enough. I paid him the 85 bucks and tipped Bonni 20 bucks for a job well done.
It has now been 3 days after and my Helix's are doing fine. I made a mistake and picked my right ear, which is the ear I sleep on. It was difficult to sleep the last two nights on my other side which is very uncomfortable. I woke up to have my ear covered in dried blood but it easily washed off with water.
I clean my ears with Pears Soap and Sea Salt Soaks, and I find that massaging the back of my ear (not the part with the spikes but the further down) helps ALOT. I drink a lot of water and it seems to be speeding up the healing process. Washing my ear in just water will relieve most of the pain from bumping into something or touching my ears.
All I have to say is that this was an AMAZING piercing to get. It's a perfect memorial for end year, and hopefully in the next year I'm going to get more spikes put on.
If you do decide to get this done, I have some words of advice. Plan it out carefully, decide on which ear you want to get done. (Not the one you sleep on or even answer the phone with) and DON'T PLAY WITH IT!!! Playing with it will do you NO good. If you think it might be infected contact your piercer immediately. Good luck, Happy Piercing and Be Original!!!
