This was the harder of the two piercings I acquired. My mom almost automatically accepted the rook I wanted, mainly because she thought it was cute. But the tragus on the other hand, she didn't like it at all. So it took quite some convincing. See, I originally wanted to get a snug on each ear and both traguses, but she only allowed me to get two piercings. Mainly because at Almost Famous its buy one piercing get one free. And I think she didn't want to have to watch four needles be poked through my flesh (I like being pierced in reality). It didn't matter in the end how many I got as long as I got some new piercing. So getting my left rook and my right tragus seemed like a good enough compromise.

Ok, the whole reason why I was able to get my ears pierced in the first place was that I worked my ass off to get the grades I did this school year. I had to letter academically to get these piercings. I think she made me make that agreement because in all honesty she thought I wasn't going to be able to do it. She even admitted to believing I had no work ethic. Call me ambitious, but I'll work my ass off to get what I want.

She actually agreed really easily to let me get them. I'm very good at making convincing arguments (I'm a debate captain) so I was able to convince her in under a week. So she agrees to take me that coming Tuesday. I had a band concert that night so we had to wait and go after it. Here we are done I change out of my clothes and we go. Ok, I pick out my jewelry and I'm about to fill out the paperwork and she asks for a picture ID with a birthday on it. I realized that my student ID is in my sweatshirt at home. So they gave us a rain check and I have to come back the next day. My mom agrees to take me right away after school.

Wednesday ticked by so slow. Maybe it was because I practically took tests all day, but I don't know. Finally the day's done and my friend Rani (I drug her along with me) and I head to my house to meet my mom. My mom comes shortly and we head to the mall. They still had my jewelry set to the side so I quick fill out the paper work while Jeff (the piercer) cleans my jewelry. Finally, after what seems like forever, he takes me back the piercing room. The piercing room was very clean. It looked like it could easily beat out any doctors' office in a cleanliness contest any day. That was comforting. Jeff also had a bunch of heavy metal blasting from a Hello Kitty boom box. (He had coordinating pink gloves to go with the Hello Kitty boom box.)

Now you see, I had my rook done first. (You can read that story under the rook section.) My rook turned out great so I was really excited to see how well Jeff could get my tragus to look. With seeing how easily that one was and how much of a rush the piercing was, I was comfortable and really excited to get this one done. After turning around on the little bed (he did mine while I was sitting up), he explained to me that with this piercing he'd be using a clamp and a cork. So first, he clamps my tragus. That felt so funny because it started going really numb. Then he put the cork in my ear. I didn't know you could fit so much stuff in my ear. Then he got the needle and it was time to pierce. He told me to take a deep breath in and exhale. Like he does when I exhaled, he stuck the needle through. I didn't feel anything except I heard a loud crunching noise. My mom and Rani must've heard it too, because when I looked over at them they had a kind of grossed out look on their fa ces.

Then like standard procedure, Jeff went over the aftercare for my piercings. Jeff prescribed that I wash them with antibacterial soap three times a day and do a two to three minute non-iodized sea salt soak after wards. For my ears, doing it three times a day was a little much. So I reduced it to twice a day and they're doing great! I haven't had any real complications with my piercings and I absolutely love them. I can't wait until the end of the summer when I get my inner conches pierced. So I most definitely recommend these piercings to anyone and if you wish to talk to me about them, my AIM is LaNoirPapillion. Feel free to email me or talk to me if you have any questions, comments, or even just to chat. Happy Piercing!
