First let me tell you a little bit about me and how I first even decided to come to BME zine for help to pick out a piercing. I am a 14 year old girl and I live in a town of under 600 people and my school is really small! Everybody in our school is pretty much the same as everybody else...exept for a few people and one of those people is me and one of the other few is my brother. My school has a bunch of people who just dye thier hair blonde to be "popular". Well I dye my hair, but i dont dye it blonde, I dye it all kinds of "crazy" colors. Also in my school everyone thinks it is SO cool to have a cartiledge stud! Well, I have 6 and 2 lobes on both ears, i have tounge barbells in the bottom ones, also I have my rook pierced and I recently got my tragus. But anyways.

I decided it was time for something new in my life. I decided I wanted a new piercing! As always when I want a new piercing, I come to the BME Zine website. It is always a lot of help so I always come here. I was looking through the ear piercing pictures and I decided I had to pick between these three piercings, #1 inner conch, #2 snug and #3 tragus. Well I really liked the way each of them lookied so I couldnt decide that way. I decided to ask my mom and dad. The bad thing about that was they liked all three of them as well. So now I knew what I had to do, I had to read exeriences about all three and then make my decision.

Well, let me tell you that all of these stories really helped me out in the short run and in the long run. After reading stories about the inner conch, I decided that I still liked it but it just wasnt for me at the time because I always put my hair behind my ears and I figured I would snag it and end up ripping it. Then I read stories about the snug, I read it and I really still liked it so I let it stay in the front of my mind while I decided to go ahead and read some stories about the tragus. While reading these stories I knew that I wasnt going to be able to make this decison on my own. I decided to go to my piercer and ask him what he thought and then we would just go ahead and do the piercing while I was there.

When I got there he asked me what I needed to do was think about the pain of both of them and ask myself how much pain I wanted to go through. He told me that the snug would be more painful because #1 it is a deep cartildge piercing so it would be slower and #2 it has to go through 2 pieces of thick cartildge. He said the tragus wouldnt be as painful so I should go with that one first and then if I still wanted the snug to get it after my tragus healed. I decided that "piercer knows best" and I told him that I wanted to go with the tragus. He told me okay and that he would get the form for me and my dad to sign.

After we signed the form, he took my dad and I into the piercing room. He got out all of his eqipment while wearing gloves. After he got out all of the equipment he changed his gloves again(all glove changes arnt specified but the were changed a lot). Then when I sat down he explained the whole procedure to me. He told me that I might hear a little pop or cracking of the cartildge but it was nothing to worry about and that I wasnt dieing. After that he asked me which ear I would like him to pierce it on. I told him my left because that was the side I have my rook pierced on. He said okay and made sure he had everything he needed.

He bent the needle with his hand and then put patroleum jelly on it. He told me it made the needle slide through easier and he wouldnt have to put so much pressure on my ear. Then he cleaned my ear with iodine. Then he marked it with a purple. I got to keep the marker! He asked me if I liked the placement of it and I told him yes. I sat down in the dentist type chair. He put the clamps on my ear and lined up the enter and exit holes. Then he told me to take a deep breath, hold it, and exhale. When he told me to exhale i felt something to the extent of a shot in my ear. It hurt but I ddint even say "OW" or anything! There wasnt a popping sound either! When he put the ring in there was a lot of pulling and tugging but nothing I couldnt handle. After that I was done!

It has been three months since I got this done and everything has gone mostly great. There was a little bit of migration but I put tea tree oil on it and it healed up quickly. I am now going to get my snug done this Tuesday. I cant wait! If anyone needs any advice or has any to give please feel free to write me at my e-mail address.
