So one tragus wasn't enough. I seem to like the phrase: Two of a kind. I always wanted my ears to match on both sides. At the age of 13, my first pair of lobes came. 14, another. 15, was 2 cartilage, and 16 was 2 more pairs going up my ear. 17 came the navel, then the bottom of my navel as well. End of 17 was tragus #1. What do you think happened my 18th birthday? Tragus ... later on tragus #2, rook #1, rook #2, both nipples, and nostril. Wait! I forgot about the most recent ... my labret.
At A Glance Author Ivy Rose Contact XmissXivy@aol.com When A week ago Artist Josh Studio Liquid Chaos Location Dearborn, MI My left tragus and my left rook were done in the same session. I didn't feel any pain, just pressure, while smiling through both of them. This was Josh's first rook piercing... That did make me slightly nervous knowing I was about to turn into a guinea pig; but he didn't seem nervous, so that was my reassurance.
Maybe about a month later, It was time for the other rook. This time I had 3 customers watching, including 2 guys. As the needle went through; both guys start jumping around saying "Ouch! Oh my god, your crazy ahhh", Quite hilarious actually. The right rook didn't go through healing too well though. It was very much swollen and I would wake up to a pulsating heartbeat feeling from my rook... Nothing like being woken up by your piercing to take 3 Tylenol 500s and going straight back to bed.
Two weeks later: My right rook had begun to behave and was looking almost as good as the left. Maybe I shouldn't have such high hopes for my piercings, because you never know when they're going to screw you over. ONE NIGHT: One of my balls happened to fall off the horseshoe and the whole thing slipped out. I said... "I'll worry about putting it back in later; it won't close." Bad idea... Within hours it had started to close and I was unsuccessful. In all my 18 years; I have had a total of 20 piercings, and only lost 2. I did lose a cartilage after being punched in the ear by my younger sister and having a diamond stud go through one side and out the other. Wow that was fun considering that piercing was already swollen and irritated.
My number is at a solid 18 right now, but I'm watching my left rook very closely. It looks and feels flawless, only may be migrating very slowly. I guess that will allow for more ideas and holes in the long run. My piercing numbers should be rising not falling right? After all I hope to be an old lady in a nursing home someday with my piercings all in tact. Okay, maybe not in a nursing home, but shopping in the local supermarket getting stares and crying children as a reaction.
So as far as jobs and piercings: I know I have pushed the envelope with my piercings and the job I had. I was a floorguard at a skating rink, and had a strict boss. Who doesn't? Well, of course he would complain about other peoples piercings but never mine. Maybe it was because he knew I wouldn't take no for an answer. Same with spot help at the carnival. Everyone else got their hear chewed off as I strolled in with every pierce of jewlery in and a newly pierced labret. A few females come up to ask me about my experiences and start holding up the line with comments like "Wow, those are some freaky piercings. I want some on other places if you know what I mean." "Hey I always wanted my nipples done" "Oh did you know my friend Jane Doe has her clit done?!" Who knows.
The best part about piercings on the job is the comments and questions you get about your piercings from the little kids. I had never received one negative comment on the job. Even little kids: " Woa, did that hurt? mommy look!" Another response was from my boss' 2 year old daughter poking me in the nose (Nostril CBR) "I want that! I want that!" My response: "Tell daddy you want a nose ring!" Cute huh? And this is the daughter of mommy "Ms. Designer everything all about appearance and looking sociably acceptable"... I love kids. I hope to be a roll model for the future pierced! Job #2: Cedar Point. 2 pairs of lobes. ByeBye Nostril, ByeBye Traguses, ByeBye Rook, ByeBye cartilage, bye bye labret. ::sigh::. You can rest assure I won't let them close up though. You can't even wear spacers. O well; I'll just be very holey during my working hours.
Pain factor: I don't know anyone with their rook pierced, so I couldn't ask them on how it felt. All I know is I felt pressure; but no pain. I was nervous, but it was over before I knew it. Try something new. Get your rook pierced. You won't be dissapointed.
