I had previously had my tragus pierced 2 months ago and I was itching to get a new piercing. I originally wanted to get the web of my tongue pierced but my mum said no cos she thought that its too dangerous! i spent ages trying to get her to let me have it done, but the answer was still NO. So I decided to get another ear piercing. If my mum wasnt going to let me have my tongue pierced i would make for it with other piercings. I already had the basic ear piercings so I wanted something different.
At A Glance Author Hayley Contact slag_by_name@hotmail.com When A month ago Studio Bananas Location Basildon, Essex, England I really didn't know what I wanted to get pierced and I hadn't really seen many different piercings so I decided to look on the web, that is when I first came across BME. I looked at all the pictures of the different piercings and couldn't decided which 1 to get. I wanted something that no one else had but I also had to have quite a discreet piercing as I'm not meant to have piercings at work (I have to hide them when I go). That's when I decided to get my rook pierced. I had never seen any one with it before.
I knew that I wanted to get my rook pierced but I hadn't really planned when to get it done and wasn't intending to get it done for a while. But... I went shopping with my mate Sarah (who has just had her tongue pierced... im just a little jealous!) one Saturday and I decided that I was going to get it done that day (my mum didn't know, but I was hoping she wouldn't mind!). I went into the shop and told the woman what I wanted pierced and she said that she was fully booked until later that day. I didn't really wanna hang around so I decided to book an appointment for the following Saturday.
I continued shopping and then I just couldn't wait till next week so I went back to the piercing shop and changed my appointment for later that day. Me and my friend had to hang around for quite a few hours and I was getting a little bit nervous.
We went back to the shop and she checked my ear out to make sure that my ear was suitable. I filled in all the necessary forms and showed her my ID. She then asked me to go into the back room and lay down on the chair/bed thing. I was quite nervous about getting my rook pierced because I had read some stories on BME before and quite a few people had said it hurt. I decided to just ignore the fact that it could hurt and just get on with it.
The woman then put on some gloves and showed me the little hoop that she would be putting in my ear. she marked up my ear and asked me if it was ok. I didn't really take much notice, i just wanted it done. I trusted that she would position it correctly. She then cleaned my ear and got all the sterilised equipment out of its packets. She then told me that she would have to pierce my rook quite slowly as she didn't want to stab my ear when the needle came out the other end.
Then she started to push the needle through my ear...
I have got to say that it didn't really hurt that much, there was just quite a lot of pressure. But it did make me shut my eyes. After she had taken the needle out and put the little hoop in the pressure eased up and I felt fine. It just felt a little hot, look a burning sensation. She gave me a mirror and I looked at my newest piecing. I loved it. There was just the tiniest bit of blood around the hole, but not even enough for a droplet. My ear was just a little red. I went and paid and she went through all the necessary care instructions and gave me a copy to take home with me.
I'm so glad that I decided to get my rook pierced. At first it was quite tender and sore and it hurt when I cleaned it and I couldn't move the ring for a few days. But that was to be expected. It has now been 2 weeks and everything is fine, it doesn't hurt at all. I have become addicted to piercings (my mum's not too happy!) and am already thinking about getting my conch or vertical tragus pierced. I wanna say thanks to BME for giving me loads of ideas and pictures of what to get pierced.
I recommend this piercing to any one who wants a piercing that is a little bit different. It doesn't hurt that much and it is definitely worth it.
Thanks for reading :o)
