When Three months ago
Artist Tim
Studio Zebra's
Location Bearkley California
Well, it has been a little over three months since I left Tim at Zebra's in berkeley and headed home with a new piercing. It has just about healed up and I'm still loving it!! The funny thing is, I went to Berkeley that day to go shopping and I had no intention of getting pierced, but I am glad I did.

A week before Christmas, I drove into Berkeley with my best friend. We were going on a ski trip the day after Christmas, and it would be my first time snow boarding. I needed a new jacket for the snow, so we went to the North Face to see if we could find some good deals. After making my purchase, I had a lot of extra cash because the jacket I bought was on sale. My friend and I were ready to head home when she began to convince me to stop by Zebra's to get something done since we were so close for once. Seeing as how I had all of the extra cash, she didn't have a hard time convincing me, so we set off to the other end of town. After taking one wrong turn after another, we finally found it. This is when I started to get a little nervous.

We walked inside and looked around a bit. One of the guys behind the counter asked if we were looking to get something done that day, and I told him I wanted to get my cartilage pierced. I picked out a ring and purchased that along with some sea salt. It came with aftercare instructions, but he went over them with me to make sure I understood exactly how to take care of my piercing. Very reassuring. The whole thing came to just over 30 bucks. Now all that was left was the wait.

There were at least 5 people in front of me, so we wandered around the store a little while longer until my number was finally called. My friend and I walked into the back where the piercings are done. My friend stood off by the door as I had a seat in the chair. Tim went over what I was going to have done and marked my ear. I was so excited!! I couldn't wait to see how my seventh piercing was going to look. Then he took out the needle... i turned to look for reassurance from my friend over by the door, but she had fled at the sight of the needle. But I wasn't too scared at all. So after Tim was done sterilizing everything, it was time. Tim pulled my hair out of the way and pushed the needle through my ear. There was only a very dull pain, that didn't phase me at all. It felt like he pushed it through slowly and in phases. However, my hair is pretty short and he was having a tough time keeping it out of the way so he had me hold it before he even tried to put the r ing in. Let me tell you, it is really weird reaching up to pull back your hair and feeling nothing but a really long needle sticking out of your ear!! So once my hair was out of the way he put the jewelery through which pinched a little bit, but not too bad at all.

Then he handed me a mirror and I had my first peek at it. I loved it! After thanking Tim, I hoped out of the chair and hurried back out into the main part of the store to show my friend. She really liked it. The piercing isn't in a traditional spot at all. It is very far forward on my ear at the top, almost at my temple, on my right ear. I have gotten a lot of complements on the location because it is unusual for a cartilage piercing, and I have only seen one other girl with one where mine is, but it works. Anyway, on the way home I couldn't stop checking it out in the mirror while I was driving. I know that's bad, but I luckily I made it home without hitting anything!

The piercing it's self was hardly painful at all. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest, I give it a 3. Later on that day, it was sore though, and I couldn't sleep on it for about 3 days. It has been three months since I have had it done, and I haven't had a problem with it. Soaking it in the warm sea salt water solution seemed to help quicken the process of healing. Occasionally, it had a little bit of crust on it, but that was all. I had such a good experience with this piercing that I can't wait to go back in for another one!!!
