I had been told by friends when I mentioned wanting my tragus pierced, that my tragus was unfortunately small, and was probably not large enough to successfully pierced. However, being over six months after the piercing occurred, it is doing just wonderfully well!

Of course, I had wanted my tragus pierced for quite some time, and finally it was time for the unforgettable experience to take place! My fiancé, Matt, friend Tiffany and I headed to my normal tattoo and body piercing studio, Lambadi City Tattoo, which is a wonderful, clean place, all the artists there are extremely friendly, I highly recommend anyone there. So, we arrive at the studio, pull into a parking space, and head into the shop. This is the time my heart starts beating uncontrollably and I sense a bit of reluctance as I go in the doors. However, I had gotten a vertical hood piercing, and nipple piercings about a month before this experience, so I knew all would be okay! I was just displaying some anxiety problems, that's all!
So, there he is the piercer of the hour, Casper! A wonderful guy! I ask him about my tragus, to see if it is large enough to be pierced correctly, he examines my tragus, and says that "yes" he can indeed do the piercing! So, of course, I get all excited, and pick out a cute teal cbr with a silver captive bead. Then I sign the usual paper, they copy my ID, and the show begins!
Casper leads me into the piercing room, and I make myself at home and hop up on the piercing chair that I have rested my booty on many times before! He gets everything ready, constantly changing his gloves (which is a sign of a great piercer who is worried about everything being sterile)! And finally all is prepared, he marks my tragus, I check the placement in the mirror, of course it is perfectly placed, and sit back down. He tells me the normal spiel, "deep breath in, and exhale", on the exhale, is when he sticks the needle through. Wow, I am thinking in my mind, that wasn't so bad! Not bad at all! But then Casper continues to on to I guess make sure the hole is totally perfect, by using the needle to "scrape" the outer edges of the newly pierced cartilage. This by far hurt me, I was not expecting that, but it was indeed quite painful! However, it only lasted a couple of seconds. Then he slide the ring through my tragus, secured it, and I was ready to go up front and pay him!
So, I looked in the mirror, smiled a big smile, and went to the front of the shop to pay and tip Casper! He did a wonderful job yet again! But that was no surprise, he always does a wonderful job, therefore there was never a doubt in my mind of how it would turn out. And the feeling of trust is a must have in a piercer, or at least it is for me!
When I tried to clean the fresh piercing the morning after I got it pierced, I was shocked to find that my piercing would not move, it would absolutely not budge, so I just cleaned what I could, and used sea salt soaks on it. Within a day or two I was able to glide the ring easily, which was a huge relief, because that worried me a bit when that was occurring!
I will admit that this piercing was quite pesky at first. This peskiness lasted for months! It was especially prevalent at bedtime when I would try to sleep on me ear, which just did not work! It took about two months before it was able to be touched without being painful, and a month or so more to be comfortable enough to fall asleep on. I must say that when people recommend sea salt soaks, they are not kidding, I can not stress enough how much this helped my healing process for my tragus. Seriously, this is something that you should definitely consider using on any healing piercing, it is wonderful!
Now, my tragus is fully healed, and I could not be happier with it, I had absolutely no major problems with it, no migrating, a bit sore for a while, but overall it was just wonderful. The only problem I ever have with my beautiful tragus piercing is the occasional catching of it in a hair brush when I get my hair cut or when I style it, but that is a thing that commonly occurs with any cartilage piercing, so this is definitely not a shocking fact!
So, if you are considering this piercing, I would advise you to think on it, research a bit, and if you still want it, go for it!
Happy Piercing!
