Well, where do I start, I love ear piercings!!I've been getting pierced with needles since I've been 12. It sounds really young now, and most have them have been without consent, since I've always been able to pass for being older.I knew my self though that I'd look after them and be able to heal them, I wouldn't have gotten them done otherwise and I've always researched about any piercing I've been thinking of, so I've been quite responsible really! So i've been getting pierced for about four years now. When I first started, piercing wasn't as a big as it is now, it was only gearing up to be.My first piercing was my belly button, I didn't really have any plans to get so much more work done, but then I decided I wanted my tragus pierced, then an industrial, then a inner helix some surface piercings... and so it went on.
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When Six months ago Artist maurice Studio tattoo zoo Location cork, ireland I didn't really plan to get my conch done, but I was in town and I was passing tattoo zoo, now I've become very good friends with Maurice, since the beginning of my piercings, he's done all except one. So, I hadn't seen him in a while so I decided to call in to say hello. I should've known that I wouldn't be able to walk out of there without a new piercing, it's never happened before!
So, I was in there talking and catching up, and I was being introduced to a new staff member and we were talking about my currently is it gonna reject/ is it not surface piercing... so, I decided, while I was in there I may aswell get pierced, since it had been a cople of months and all.... so I started pestering Maurice to do a hand web, I'd been begging him to do for about 6 months, but he wouldn't, he didn't think it would heal, and he didn't want to scar me, yada, yada! So I started asking questions about gettinbg a new scaffold, I wanted it from my tragus to my conch, but I couldn't decide whether it would be too much with all the other jewellery in my ear, maurice being no help because he didn't want to influence my decision!!!
So anyway, I decided to just get my conch pierced, so in I went to the piercing room and sat up on the chair while Maurice got set up.I wasn't really nervous or anything, cos I don't get like that, I was quite excited though, because it had been a few months since I'd gotten pierced. Anyways, Maurice marked my ear three times and got me to pick which one I preferred, we ended up picking the one that would be more suitable if I did decide to make it into a scaffold. Anyways, I didn't know would it hurt or not, and I don't really feel pain that much so I was looking forward to it, although maurice said it wouldn't be complety painless. Anyway, started the procedure and as the needle was going in I started pulling my head away, I don't know why, cos looking back on it, it wasn't all that painful, but I hadn't eaten all day which was kinda stupid of me, because they only times I've ever felt pain when getting pierced was when I hadn't eaten. So anyway, I kept pulling my head awa y, and Maurice was trying to make me hold still, which was kinda funny. But after that eveything went fine, he inserted the ring put the ball on and I hopped down off the chair. Anyways, I always thought a conch was s'pose to be hard to heal, but it pretty much healed itself, I 've never had any trouble with it and it's very pretty! I doubt I'll make it a scaffold but time will tell.
So, to anyone wanting it done, go for it. It really doesn't hurt that much, just don't pull your head away, and it always help to have a nice piercer, who'll make you feel comfortable and have a chat to. The only thing, I'd really say to people is try not to sleep on it if you get t done, because after i got it done there was so little pain, I was able to sleep on it straight away, and then I realised I was putting too much pressure on it and it started creating problems. It didn't create anything major because as soon as I noticed I stopped sleeping on it.
I've had a couple more piercings since then, all healing wonderfully. Don't know when the next one will be though since I'm not too keen on any other piercers in cork at the moment, so I'm gonna have to travel a little further to get them from now one since Maurice left, to set up his own studio... but it shouldn't be too far away!!
Anyways, good luck to anyone thinking og getting it done.
