I've got a two piercings, my tongue that is about 7 months old my right inner conch, which is about 3 months old. I never thought I would get something pierced but once I got my tongue done I can't stop.

I want a few more piercings such as my left snug, nipples and horizontal navel, but haven't had the money the parent (under 18) or the time to get it done. After I got my tongue pierced I started looking on the BME site at other piercings, and fell for the inner conch. After getting the money, and a parent (friend's mom), my two friends, my fake mom and I headed off to the piercing studio.

When we got to the studio I told them that I wanted a conch and asked how much it'd be. They said "no problem; the piercer is with someone right now and will be with you in a few." I was like cool, but the waiting just made me more nervous.

I took a seat and once she finished with the girl we had a quick chat about what I wanted. The first thing she did was take me to pick out what jewelry I wanted. I could choose between a hoop and a labret post. Naturally I choose the labret post because the hoop was huge and would be hard to tape or take out (for cheer practice and comp.).

So I picked out a 14gauge-labret post with a spike. Once we'd established what jewelry I wanted we went the "chair." The piercer was very nice and professional; she was very comforting too. She explained what she was doing the entire time and answered any and all of my questions. She started by putting on the gloves and letting the needles sit in Tech 2000 for a min or to. She then marked where the piercing would go. Since I was getting both done she had to make sure they were even on both sides. After making the marks she changed her gloves, had me position myself so I was in the light. She put the Satin stuff on the inside and outside of my ear and then grabbed the needle. As usual she told me to take three deep breaths. On the third breath she shoved the needle into my ear. It was the weirdest sound. Sounded like crunching. The needle going through did hurt; I will admit that but didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would. She then put the labret post in the feeder tube an d pulled out the tube. My ear was tingly and warm and throbbing a bit but I got over it. I took a look at it and oh man it was gorgeous.

Time came for the second one. She told me that the second would hurt more because my body would know what to expect. She put the satin on and then on the third breath shoved the needle in. More crunching and more tingling. She put the jewelry in and screwed on the spike. The first one hurt worse to put the jewelry in, and the second one hurt worse to pierce.

After checking them out in the mirror we headed off to learn about the after care. After care wasn't too bad, just to clean it twice a day and sea salt soak once a day, and to take Motrin or ibuprofen for pain and swelling. After paying and my friend got hers done. She was freaking out. She already has her belly button, tragus, lobes and the cartlidge pierced so I thought the pain wouldn't be that bad for her. I was wrong she said it was the worst piercing she had gotten. For the rest of the night all was good no pain and such, all went wrong when it came time to sleep. Since I had both done I couldn't sleep on my side so I really didn't sleep. But who needs sleep. The next morning there was swelling and throbbing, but more ibuprofen helped that. Cleaning hurt about I could never tell if I got the soap out all the way, and sea salt soaks felt really good when there was some throbbing going on. About a week later my ears began to throb tremendously. It felt like a migraine b ut in my ears. The piercer said it was just how my body was reacting to the piercing. It's been about 3 months and I know have a barbell in my right. I had to take out my left because of swelling and beginning signs of infection, so in it's place I will get my snug pierced. I can barely feel my right one most of the time and it only hurts a little when I catch it on something. I still get crusties and those hurt a but when I clean or change the jewelry. I'm really happy with my conch and plan on gauging it to a 12 soon.

So if any of you are considering a conch, in my experience it has been a little painless but that's just how I heal piercings, my advice is to GO FOR IT!
