I had wanted a daith piercing for a while, but after doing some research here on bmezine.com, and looking at some pictures, I decided to get my rook pierced instead. So, with that said, this is a story of my experience with my rook piercing!
At A Glance Author Dawn Contact Dawn@bme.anon When Six months ago Artist Casper Studio Lambadi City Tattoo Location Fairfield, Ohio I am away at college in Kentucky, so I had the option of getting my rook pierced at several places locally. But, after my normal piercer, Casper (an awesome guy and piercer, indeed) had all ready pierced many body parts in the past for me (tragus, nipples, navel, off-center lip, eyebrow, verticle hood), I decided that I would most definitaly drive the two and a half hours it takes to get home to Lambadi City to get pierced! So, if that doesn't say enough, Casper is well worth the travel, since he is such a wonderful piercer, I have never had any problems with my piercings, and always have a very pleasant experience at the shop! He is a unique guy indeed!
Okay, so on with the day of the piercing, my friend and I embarked on the journey to the tattoo parlor! We jumped into the car and drove there, it was a blast! I know this is where a lot of people would say that they were feeling very anxious about the whole experience, or had an urge to turn around and go home, but to be honest, after all ready having so many other piercings, I was totally excited to be going in to get another one! As strange as it may sound to people who do not feel this way, there is something very pleasant about a hollow needle be forced through your skin. It's a sort of release, if that makes any sense!
So, we pulled up at the studio, went in and waited for Casper to get ready to begin. So, I went back into the piercing room, which I must say is very clean and sterile indeed (as well as the rest of the studio)! Casper and I talk a bit, while he is setting up and getting everything prepared.
Thats when the lovely piercing begins! He cleans my ear, marks my rook where he thinks will be best, I aprove it, and then he lubricated the needle, and told me to count to take a deep breath in, and when I released he forced the needle through! Oh how I loved that! Sure, there was minimal pain involved, but its just such a wonderful experience, that the adrenaline takes over and it no longer hurts, it just feels so liberated, and wonderful!
So, the actual piercing is done, and I thank, pay and tip Casper! All in all it was a lovely experience!
That happened in September of 2003, so with it being April of 2004, I have had it over six months, it is healed, and wonderful! I had no major problems with it what so ever! Although I will say that it was sore for a while, and it hurt to sleep on it for over a month, but I was expecting that all ready since I had experience other cartilage piercings.
So, my friend and I drove back to Kentucky, and I was on a natural high, a piercing high the whole way back!
I would definitaly recommend this piercing to anyone who is desiring it. It has behaved quite well for me! Just make sure that you find a clean piercing studio and a great piercer. I believe that it is essential to be able to trust and see that the studio that you allow to pierce you is clean! If you are in the Cincinnati/Dayton/Northern Kentucy region, or anywhere else and don't mind a drive, head up to Lambadi City Tattoo and get pierced by the wonderful Casper! And just on a side note, the tattoo artists there are quite talented as well, so give them a looking if you are interested in getting a tattoo anytime soon!
One more thing, I would definitaly recommend searching around on this wonderful site, bmezine.com, and researching all of the risks and precautions that you should take or consider before getting any body modification. Also, reading other peoples experiences can really help get insight!
So, for the question many people ask, here is my response:
Did it hurt?
Okay, how I love this question. Every individual has there own perception of pain, and tolerance for it. Some people hate pain, while it helps others remember that they are still human, or it helps others feel a sense of release with the whole experience. But in my opinion if pain is a factor for you, how bad do you really want it?
If anyone is wanting the piercing, email me with questions, but keep in mind that any questions asking how much it hurts, or something along those lines, will not be acknowledged.
Happy piercing!
