I moved about a year ago, I gad no desire to move and I saw nothing good in the entire town. However, now I have something to appreciate this place for. It didn't take me long to notice that there were a small number of piercing/tattooing studies located in the downtown area. This at first simply aroused a bit of curiosity.

I found this site and talked to a few friends of mine who had piercings. Soon I decided that body piercing was definitely for me. I decided that I wanted a number of facial piercing. (Ears, labret, and brow) I choose to get my ears done. According to the law I'm not yet of age to get anything but my ears done, and I figured it was a good procedure to start with.

The idea didn't go as smooth as I had hoped it would with my parents, but it was to be expected. Neither of them having any mods created less of an understanding. There is nothing wrong with body modification as long as it isn't for the wrong reason, and I explained my reasons to them, which didn't seem to be getting them closer to any agreement that I thought acceptable. The final agreement was that—considering that my grades meet their standards—I would be permitted to acquire one, and only one, lobe piercing. (Which they assumed would be small gauge)

Well, time passed, and passed, and passed a little more. Then finally one Saturday afternoon, my mom asked me what I wanted to do. I, not expecting a serious answer replied, "Hmm, get my ears pierced?" to my surprised she asked where, and how much, and within 20 minutes we were on our way.

I walked into the studio, and was welcomed by the scent of sterility that more than rivaled what one would expect to experience walking into and operation room. There were numerous examples or tattoos on the wall and there was the constant chattering of tattoo needles.

The one tattoo artist that wasn't busy at the time asked what I was planning to do. I told him I wanted lobes, probably ten gauge, and was planning to stretch to a four. He introduced me to Deuce, who would be doing the piercing. I told him an idea about piercing a double orbital around a small plug, he wasn't really sure about it and had never seen or done anything like it. I decided that it would be best just to get the ten gauge lobes and then see about my other idea after I was at a four gauge.

My mom didn't know what the hell we were talking about. Deuce when and got a ten gauge ring so she could see what was going on. She was apprehensive, but when someone said I should do four she lit up. We all laughed, she didn't know anything about the subject and figured—smaller number smaller hole. After realizing that I wouldn't be stretching my ears as large as Deuces' (which were at least a half inch) she agreed that ten would be OK, and we would talk later about the stretching.

Moments later I was sitting in the chair, signing a form. This is where I started to get a bit nervous, but more so I was ambitious, I was finally here getting my first piercing. (Luckily my dad wasn't around and my mom had forgotten about the previous discussion.) Deuce checked the forms, my mom signed, he cleaned my ears, and put on the clamps. Deuce told me to take a breath in, and then let it out, I was expecting a quick sting. It wasn't painful, but instead it felt, a bit gross. This big needle was going through my ear, which seemed thick and chunky because the needle seemed to me to be moving so slowly through my ear. Then the other one, clamp on, deep breath. Same thing, the tip is half way in then slows down, then passes completely through. The jewelry went in, Deuce took a last look we OK'ed everything, my mom paid (HE HE) and I was on my way out the door with two new beautiful earrings.

I can say I definitely had a great experience. I'm glad I didn't do something dumb like try to pierce my ears with safety pins, which are made out of horrible material and were too small for what I wanted anyways. For anyone that thinks they might have unreasonable parents that won't understand body mods, just talk to them reach some kind of compromise, having something is definitely better than nothing. An ear piercing is a great place to start, you should know that you are really into piercing before you do something that is right in the middle of your face.
