On April ninth a day like any other I decided to finally go get my rook done. I've been thinking about doing it for about a year now and since my industrial is finally healed, I decided to get it done. I went over to Rock-A-Billy tattoo studio off of university dr. with my boyfriend. I had just gotten off work and decided today was the day I've put it off long enough. I was nervous when we got close to the studio. But I felt better when I saw Alan. He was outside and we talked with Alan about getting my rook done. He told me that it wouldn't be a problem he was just getting back from getting something to eat so he didn't have any appointments to do anyones tattoo today. That made my extremely happy.

He is usually the tattoo artist but today he was going to pierce me. I was worried that it would hurt more than my industrial, but Alan said that it was much easier since it was just one needle instead of two, so it wouldn't hurt as much as the industrial.

So since he told me that and since he had some time we went inside. The room where they do the piercings is in the back in a nice clean japanese looking room. It makes me laugh every time I go in there. But it does make you feel like your just hanging out not going to get your ear stabbed with a huge needle. Rock-a-billy is such a great place to get a tattoo and or piercing. It's so relaxed and down to earth. I felt as though I was at my house or anywhere else that a traditional tattoo studio.

As I walked into the room I felt instantly nervous. Alan cracked a joke that instantly calmed me down. I was nervous again when I saw the earing he was going to put through my rook. But I was also so excited that I was finally going to get it done. He marked my ear with a pen and asked if that was the exact spot I wanted it. I of course said yes! He's really good at picking the perfect spot. Then he got out the 3inch needle that was to be used to pierce my little rook and I knew it was going to really happen.

Alan told me to take a deep breath and continue to breathe, that he was going to talk me through it. He tilted my head off to the left side, because I was getting my right rook done, and he said ready I'm going to count to three, ...one ...two ...three.. and then the needle went through my rook and that wasn't it I moved thinking it was over and he was like no, no wait I have to go through the entire rook. I was like oh no, I totally messed it all up. But no was Alan is great and he put it through. Then I was just sitting there with a big needle through my ear. After he took out the earing, which was a 16" the smallest size for the rook, he took out the needle and popped in the earing. And it still wasn't over then he had to clamp it on the the tiny ball that comes with a 16" ring.

But after that it was all over! Thank you Alan! It didn't hurt much at all I thought it would but it didn't. I was able to touch it and everything right after I got it done. He told me to do the same thing I did with my industrial in terms of maintaining it and keeping it clean. Basically what you have to do is use antibacterial soap and salt water. He also told me not to pop my cartilage but to come in if it grows back. Because the last time I did he wasn't happy with me. I was so happy with the job that Alan did. I love it so much! Thank you Alan you rock my socks off!

Even after sleeping with the newly done rook, I was able to sleep on my right side and it didn't hurt when I slept on it for long hours at night. It has been a few days after I got it done and the only way it really hurts when I get it tangled in my hair like when I try and put it up in a ponytail, or even brushing my hair. It hurts when you forget its there and it gets stuck on the brush thats a big ouch. You just have to be aware of it and remember it is a new thing and you just have to get use to it, just like anything else. But over all its a kick ass piercing and I love it!
