I was 8 when I got my ears pierced with a gun at Claires. My dad said I could get them when I was 7, and my mom when I was 9, so the compromised and when with 8. I loved my ear rings so much, no matter what any one would have said to me, I LOVED them.

Well months pass and one of my ears gets infected, it was pretty bad, it was full of pus, and it hurt VERY bad. I had to hold HOT salt water rags on my ear to draw out the infection. After a few days it was gone. I was so glad, but little did I know of all the infections to come my way. I will just say that it was hard to take care of my ears, they were always getting infected.

Then on thanksgiving day( I don't remember how old I was, I think I was in the 5th or 6th grade) while in the middle of the dinner my mom looks over and practically screams "What is wrong with your ear?" I being so young freak out and touch the one I know she can see, it was so gross, and my ear was HUGE. It was like there was a pea on either side of my lobe. I run straight to the bathroom and I see it, it was all purple and stuff. My cousin comes running with and winces at the site of it. I all ready know the procedure, and go to take out my ear ring, it wouldn't come out for the life of me. So I had to let it soak first, then if finally came out with a tug. And immediately puss comes oozing out. It also started to bleed. I kept soaking it, I was probably in the bathroom for an hour when I finally thought that no more pus was coming out I put a band aid on it. It was still just one fatty lobe. So then for the next week or so I kept doing this over and over, nothing seemed t o be helping. So eventually I left it alone and watched it gradually heal.

By the time it was all done healing the hole where the ear ring went was totally healed up and there was a scar right where it should have been. I was kind of upset, not too bad because I was tired of the infections that I kept getting. So I let it sit, my mom even told me she'd take me to get it repierced, but I declined.

So for a few years I didn't really miss my ear rings at all. Then it came the begin of 10th grade(this year) and I started to notice people and their ears, I wanted them back, and I wanted them double pierced, but my mom didn't want them double pierced. When my brother found out that I wanted them done he told me to go to a REAL place to get pierced. He lectured me about the hazards of guns. I believed him and so I asked my mom again, and she said yes as long as I cleaned them every time I was supposed to and I promised I would. Then I asked about getting them double pierced. That was still a no. I REALLY wanted them double pierced, and so I waited, knowing that eventually I would get my mom to okay them. Then some how one day I and my mom and my best friend were on the way to our local tattoo, piercing shop. And all the way there I was bugging her about doubles. Finally she said we will see how much more they are, and if that is a good idea when we get there.

So we step in for the first time, and it is weird to me because the people working there all had a fair amount of facial piercings, which interested me. Then we are asked what it is that we can be helped with. And my mom asked about piercing a scared ear, he felt my ear and said they could do it. I was SO glad. Then she asked about getting my ears double pierced, and he said it would be cheaper then, and better to get them all done at once. So I pick out my jewelry. All 14ga CBRs (I knew nothing about gauges then). Then all three of us follow him into the back room where we watched him clean the table chair thing that I was to sit on. He told me to wash my hands after he washed his. I watched as he got everything prepped, I noticed that he constantly was changing his gloves. then he marked where they all were to go put them on me to see if I liked the placement, it was perfect, and he shoed me that he was even putting the piercing that is to be repiecred in a different spot because before they weren't straight. So then I hop back up on the table and am instructed to lay down, and I don't know what all was going on, and he told me to breath in and out 3 times and on the last exhale he would pierce me, we did this four times. I still had the one hole but it had to be stretched a little so the 14 ga would fit. It wasn't that bad, my eyes didn't water or anything. Then when he is done he says I can go look, I saw them and I LOVED them right away I was so happy I got them done.

Then he goes over the after care, clean with soap twice a day, and soak in sea salt water once. And he gave me a little pamphlet with all the info. And we paid, left and tip and off we were. I was so happy. I am very glad I got them done it was worth it.
