I got my anti-tragus pierced just over 3 months ago so it would have been early January. Getting this piercing was for my 14th birthday present from my dad and his girlfriend. I have gotten addicted to piercing/body modification after I got my ear lobes stretched to 5mm. Now to tell the story.

I had been searching for about a month for an ear piercing because at the moment that is all my Dad is letting me get done, plus I go to a private school which do not allow piercings. I was searching on BME one day and came across the Tragus. I showed dad pictures of what it looked like and he said he would think about it, after a month of waiting he broke the news to me that I could not get it done. As furious as I was I continued looking for a new piercing. I had made my decision I was going to choose between daith, anti-tragus or just have the top of my ear done, I just could not decide, but I finally came to the decision to get my anti-tragus done. I showed dad pictures of what the piercing looked like and he gave it some thought and finally said yes. I was so happy but my nerves were already building up and we had not even booked the appointment yet. A week passed and I finally got dad to call up The Piercing Shop and book the appointment. He called up and everything wa s booked my appointment was booked for 11:30. By this stage I was so nervous, I don't know why but I get nervous very easily so this was enough to trigger me off.

I called up 3 of my closest friends to see if they wanted to come in with me, they all said yes which was great. Our plan was to go to the shop get it done then look round the city. It was finally the big day and we headed off to go into the city, we arrived at the shop at about 11:20, we walked in and headed straight for the counter, I told the very nice lady that I had booked an appointment for 11:30 to get my anti-tragus done, she handed us the forms and she showed me some types of jewellery that I could choose from.

After a couple of minutes of looking I finally choose a blue curved barbell which at the time I thought looked nice. My dad asked all the questions about healing and infection etc. The lady kindly answered his questions and told us to sit down.

After 5 minutes of waiting the piercer finally came out and called me in. She showed me to the room and sat me down in the dentist like chair, the piercer left the room and another lady who worked in the shop came in and set up all the tools. By this stage I was very nervous and she could tell so she calmed me down by talking to me, she made a couple of jokes and I felt a bit better. She walked out of the room and said she was going to get the piercer, I quickly grabbed my mobile and messaged my friends to tell them I was doing good. The piercer walked in and started talking to me which calmed me down even more. She sat down on the seat and showed me all the tools so that I could see that they were clean and packaged. She took out the purple marker and asked where I wanted it to be placed. I wanted it to be placed more in the middle than have it higher up. She marked my ear and asked if it was good. I said it was fine and we continued with the procedure.

I quickly asked one question before she did the piercing, I asked "if it would hurt much" I only asked because I red a lot of experiences saying it was the most painful ear piercing. The piecer said it would most likely be painful because my cartilage was thick, that made me feel even worse but I could not back out. She clamped my ear and told me to concentrate on my breathing, I was concentrating on my breathing and I felt a lot of pressure and a slight burning feeling, the piercing was very quick but it did not hurt as much as I expected it to. She fiddled around for a bit and I thought everything was over but to my horror it wasn't, she told me to keep breathing how I was, I felt the most painful sting go through my cartilage, I squinted my eyes and the stinging finally settled down. She said everything was done and handed me the mirror. I was in love with it straightaway this was by far better than my stretched ear lobes. I thanked the ladies and I headed out all proud o f myself. I opened the door and my friends all ran over and they loved it.

For about a week it was fine, a bit hard to smile but everything was going good. One day I woke up with it purple and tender, it had swollen up a lot and it did not look too good but she said it was part of the healing process. I have had a few problems with the curved bar and putting in my clear for school but everything seems to be going great. These holidays I am looking forward to getting my conch done on my right ear. My dad is also letting me get my labret done on the big school holidays. I CAN'T WAIT
