Well, I have been planning on getting a new piercing since the last piercing I got. I thought I was the coolest kid in the world when I got my helix done in 2002 (I was obviously kidding myself haha) and then when I got my conch pierced in July of 2003. Ever since I got my conch (which I've named Concetta) I've been planning to get another. I had looked at some pictures of other piercing I could get and had wanted my rook pierced but had FALLEN HEAD OVER HEALS with the anti-tragus piercing. I had planned to get it on my 18th birthday because it was a day of independance (well not really just the day I didnt have to ask my mom to sign for me haha) ..

March 7th came around and I told my parents TODAY IS THE DAY I GET PIERCED.. unapprovingly they said 'youre stupid but youre 18'.. So, with that, my sister, her boyfriend, our best friend, and I drove to Ave U to Studio Engima where I walked in all confident and asked to get my antitragus pierced .. Maybe its just me but when I go into a piercing/tattoo place and say what I want I assume they know what I'm talking about. The guy at the desk had NO IDEA what I was talking about but he turned to the piercer, Christina, and thank heavens she knew what it was. She came over and proceeded to pick out what jewelery I was going to get .. we decided on a 16g bb which she said would be more convenient to sleep on (even though I prefered a ring because its easier to clean). She took about 5min to get ready before I could sit in the chair. FInally, she sat me in this huge chair and marked me up (my favorite part). We talked about her 23 piercings and how we both had our conches pier ced and how sad it is that little girls think that pain is getting their navels pierced. She clamped me (which kind of tickled) and it was there that I told her about the guy who pierced me at the Jersey Shore that had NO MERCY for me when he did my conch (which hurt for about a second - if that can even qualify as hurt). So I reminded her to tell me when to breathe in. So 5 minutes later, as it takes FOREVER to prepare since the antitragus is so small and in a funky spot, she said ok take a deep breath in and I did. She pierced me :-D ..

She was so impressed at the fact that I didnt flinch, squint my eyes, or do anything that could show that it hurt. ANd thats because it didnt. It felt like someone pinched my ear. To be honest, the clamp hurt more than the needle. She told me that it might hurt when she put the ball on cuz she was going to apply pressure but i felt nothing .. i was actually impressed with myself because when i got my helix done i almost passed out .. i guess with age comes tolerance for pain lol. Well, it has been almost 5 days and I LOVE IT! It hasnt given me any problems yet and it is my favorite piercing so far :-) My next piercing is either going to be my rook or my antihelix .. we'll see :-D

As far as cleaning your antitragus goes, I recommend a ring when first getting it pierced because it is WAY easier to clean .. Some people think a ring might look stupid but who cares .. you'll be able to change the ring faster when it heals .. a bb which you can only move in and out:tought to get to with only a Qtip. The first three days it did not swell or bleed or give me any trouble cleaning .. BUT DONT BE AN ASS LIKE ME AND SPRAY HAIRSPRAY OVER YOUR PIERCING! It is a little swollen now and bleeds a little but still no problems.. my favorite by far :-) .. My friend is going to get a tattoo on friday and I am even considering getting another on my right ear (even though I have my conch pierced on the right) .. Antitragus' are the best!

I RECOMMEND THE ANTITRAGUS TO EVERYONE AND ANYONE! It honestly does not hurt as much as people think it does .. when I heard it was one of the most painful piercings I thought, "WAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT? THAT WAS NOTHING!" And if you are in the Brooklyn area .. go to Christina from Studio Enigma on Ave U between W11 and W10 .. ENJOY :-)
