I had been looking and reading different experiences and pictures of ear piercings on bmezine for a while before I decided that the snug piercing was one I definitely needed to have. Unfortunately it was not just a case of going out and getting one cause I needed a signature. It took an entire year of hardcore convincing until mom finally said she would sign for me. And about three minutes after she agreed we were in the car driving down the piercers.
At A Glance Author nev Contact nev@bme.anon When A month ago Location abbotsford The first time I went into the studio to get it done there was like four people in front of me to get pierced. So I thought that would be ok ... after all what's a little wait. So I sat down on the couch, flipped through some Martha Stewart magazines, drank some cooler water from a tiny cup and looked at the jewelry. Then after about five minutes I realized waiting was not a good thing for me to engage in. I started freaking out and went into a minor anxiety attack then fainted which was sure fun! I wasn't feeling so great after I blacked out so I made the wise decision it would be better if I came back when I wasn't so... unconscious. I was rather mad at myself for getting all freaked out about a little bit of cartilage being stabbed with a sharp object.
Well a week later I decided I'd giver another wing, this time I had a large slushy and some licorice before I went in - thinking that would boost my sugar levels to higher heights so I wouldn't faint again. After gulping down the frozen beverage and eating the candy I waltzed into the piercing place way calmer this time and there was no wait, so that was a bonus. I talked to the piercer and asked her to tell me everything that she knew about snug piercings just to make sure I knew what I was getting into. She was very informative which further eased my nerves. I have gotten all my piercings done by her so far, so I was pretty confident in letting her do this one. Then I picked out a simple barbell, went into the little roomy thing with my mom and sat on the bed/chair. Watched as the piercer carefully unloaded and unpacked all the equipment. She marked my ear and asked if the placing was right ...and I said seemed pretty perfect. So she put the clamp on which was uncomfortabl e but nothing that bad to complain about. Now was the time for the needle to be jammed into my ear. I got kind of nervous and started mildly shaking but tried to focus on how awesome it would look when it was done, and how badly I've wanted this piercing for so long. My mom tried to distract me by excessively talking about how when she was little there was no such thing as body modification, her point of view was simply irritating so I zoned her out and decided to stare at the picture on the wall and give myself some bio feedback instead.
Then the piercer counted to three and asked me to take a deep breath. I felt the needle go in and it made a loud pop/crunch sound when it came through the other side which kind of startled me- I looked over at my mom, and she was whiter than me, wide eyed, with this shocked look on her face from witnessing the experience. She had to step out of the room because she felt a little nauseous. I found her reaction quite amusing though she didn't see the humor in it- well the pain factor wasn't as bad as I was expecting, actually it just felt like pressure. The part that did hurt was putting the barbell in, cause all the fussing to screw on the end irritates it alot. I could feel the blood running down my ear, which surprised me considering my other piercings never really did bleed. Oh well I thought it was just normal plus I was so pleased after getting it done, I wasn't really concerned about it. I have an anti-tragus piercing on the same ear so the snug was a nice addition.
The first week of my new piercing it was very uncomfortable, red, and swollen. I've been doing sea salt soaks ever since I had it done, which I believe has aided the healing process greatly. But my ear getting whacked with volleyball and elbowed a few times in gym didn't exactly help. I've had it for a little over a month now, and I'm very happy with the piercing. It barely hurts- except when someone rams into it, and has no swelling. The snug is definitely worthwhile to get and dude it just like looks so sweet.
