To begin with I will describe a little about me. I have 13 piercings, my latest the rook. I was craving another piercing yet again, and since I am a wimp when it comes to pain I was trying to find something other than a rook that I liked. When I couldn't find anything I was interested in I began to look at stories and decided to suck it up and get it pierced.

Since my regular piercing placed moved and my mom had gift certificates to a restaurant, Olive Garden for any curious people who live around here, we went to Primitive Impressions instead. I asked a friend of mine to go with me because I know he loves to eat. On the very long ride there, I began to get anxious. Out of the 12 (actually 13 counting the helix I had to let heal) other piercings I have gotten, none have hurt. This was the only piercing I have feared would hurt. Anyways, we got to the shop and my mom bought a bunch of gold rings for her ears while my jewelry, a curved barbell for easier sleeping purposes, was being sterilized. My friend, who has no piercings and said he would cry if he got one done, was a little freaked out, considering that he had never seen people with so many tattoos and original piercings. Finally, Bonnie, my piercer for the night, told me it was time to go into the back. My mom and my friend decided to come in and watch. I was extre mely nervous wit the idea of this piercing hurting.

Bonnie, noticing my anxiety, explained that I would probably feel more pressure than pain. She got everything set up as we discussed our fear of getting shots at the doctors' to my mom and how it is different than getting piercings. After she mentioned that everything was sterile and the needle would only be used once on me, she explained the piercing procedure. She explained why I would feel some pressure and how the receiving tube worked (like I don't know), etc.. She marked me and told me to look in the mirror to see if I liked the placement. When I tried to look I could not see the marks, but I trusted her judgment more than my own anyways. She told me to take a deep breath (and my friend closed his eyes), and on the exhale pushed the needle through. The relief I felt was so incredible. There was no pain at all. While the needle was sitting in my ear there was a lot of pressure. Anyone who had to have his or her jaw widened would understand the pressure I fe lt. The pressure you feel in your nose is the same pressure I felt only in my ear. I was very pleased with Bonnie's work.

Along with my rook and my mom's gold rings, she gave me a smaller Madonna ball. I kept staring in the mirror at my new pretty piercing while Bonnie put in my mom's gold rings. After the cleaning chat, we went to eat and my ear did not even hurt. That night I went midnight bowling with a bunch of friends and only managed to knock my rook once. I slept on it that night because when I slept on the other side it began to throb. All in all it had a good first night.

It has been about a week now and it is doing very well. For the first few days I took ibprophen just in case it wanted to hurt. It swelled a little, but not too much. I have noticed lately that it has only inflames when I touch it, which of course is only when I clean it ;-). Though I cannot seem to stop touching my piercing I strongly do not recommend doing so, it can really screw up a piercing, as can trauma. Luckily, the only trauma this piercing has seen was during a hockey game in gym when I ended up on the ground. This guy hit me directly in my ear. Though my knees did not do so well (they are black and blue), my ear only felt hot for a little while and is fine now. More so, make sure you keep your piercing clean. Cleaning is very important in the healing process of every piercing. I personally use salt soaking 2 times a day. (1 teaspoon of sea salt to every coffee cup full of warm water.) I also want to mention that you should wash off the salt water with cool tap water afterwards, since I did not know that until I got this piercing.

If anyone is interested in this piercing or any of me others (listed below) feel free to contact me at fishyhippiegurl@yahoo.com or at dashaspice2637 on AIM. My other piercings include, 3 lobes piercings on each lobe, 3 cartilage piercings (home done), a Madonna, a nose piercing, and a conch piercing.
