Well it all started when I was about 12 and I got my second holes pierced. I wasn't allowed to but I did anyway. Turns out my mom didn't care and I was on the safe side. Then when I was 13 I got my top cartilage pierced and then about two months later I got my other cartilage pierced and another good four months I got my third holes. So by the time I was 13 I had 8 ear piercing. Which was good enough for me I didn't want to look to over loaded before eight grade. One day I was walking around in the movie theater in Miami (because at the time the Keys movie theater was being re-built) and this girl walked by me and something in her ear caught my eye immediately. I glanced at it a few more times while she was around and then I left it alone and never though one thing of it again. Until, just a week later I was on BME and looking for some new ear piercing that I wanted. I didn't know what I wanted yet but my mom said after my belly button was pierced that I was only allowed to get ears and no place else. So I was looking on the ear section and I came across the rook. I soon realized that this was the same piercing that I noticed on the girl just a week earlier. So I checked out my ear and tested with my fingers to see where it would go and I though "how perfect!" So the rook was it.

I went up to my mom and asked and she said yes but it had to be after Christmas.
I was kind of disappointed Christmas was two weeks away I was urging really bad to get in with in the next day or two. But I did my homework and called the very few tattoo and piercing parlors in the Keys. The one closest to me I heard sucked and wasn't really reasonable, so I tried a new place and called and they said that they were not certified for piercing yet but that the best place was Doc and Ranee's in Marathon. (40 miles away)
So I told my mom this and I also added that my best friend got all her piercings there and was recommended well. So my mom agreed and now Christmas was only 1 week away and I was more exited than ever. Finally Christmas was done and over with and then my moms next day off was going to be the day.
Finally, December 30th . Me and my mom drove down the forty miles south from where I live and arrived in Marathon. First we ate lunch at this nice water front place and then we were in search of Doc and Ranee's. It took a little while to find the place but eventually we found it hidden in some building plaza. We went in and a manly looking lady was sitting down talking to dome customers and a man was doing a tattoo. They at first look scary but I wasn't going to let that get me scared. She came up to me and my mom and asked what we needed and I said that I wanted my rook pierced, so she gave us some forms and told us were to fill out and all this regulation bullshit and then talked to us for a little bit about the particular piercing I wanted. She asked what gauge and I said something small like a 16, she agreed and then was like "Alright then just hold on and let me notarize this." When she was doing that I took the time to notice the place. It was only the one piercer an d the one tattooer . But the place seemed busy. As I was waiting looking inside of the display boxes looking at belly rings and class pipes and CBR's a large group of girls came in wanted to get tattoos. It kind of made me laugh they all looked like a bunch of pussies to me but any who, She came back and took me in the piercing room. She shut the curtain and started talking to me. She seemed very nice and made me feel very comfortable. She was talking to me and my mom about all kinds of things, that really made me take my mind off of things, which I thought was good. She cracked a few jokes, marked me up and then all of a sudden she was done cleaning me ear and changed she gloves again. And I felt this sharp pain right in my left ear. The pain just stayed in one spot, I didn't even feel it going through all that thick cartilage. It hurt though. I was squirming in that chair up until she said "It's through." I was like "It is?" because like I said before, I didn't feel it g o anywhere. But it was all over and done with. I could feel my ear thr obbing but I looked in the mirror and loved my new piercing .So we paid the $25.00 and left. I was officially the first person in my high school to get this done and I was really happy about that. Well it has been not even a month yet and it is still sore. But it looks great.
Great Piercing. Go for it if you are considering it.
