For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by piercings. In particular I liked ear piercings. Whether it was a lobe piercing, cartilage piercing, or something more interesting like an industrial or daith, I liked them. I already had two piercings in my lobes, one at 8g, and the other at 10g and I had 5 14g cartilage piercings. I did all of my piercings myself and had stretched my lobes myself to.

We both had wanted to get our tongues pierced so we decided that would be what we got done. She called her mom and her mom said that it was alright for her to go and get it done. Well I knew I wasn't going to convince my parents because they were against piercings (that's why I did my other piercing myself) so I thought I would just get another piercing in my ear. I was kind of disappointed because for quite some time my friend and I had been planning on getting our tongues pierced together. Oh well what can ya do? I decided I would get my rook pierced instead because I had wanted it done for along time.
After school we drove down to the piercing place, Sammy Kaines. We chose to get it done there because we knew the peircer and heard from various people that it was a good place to get pierced and that it was clean. Well when we got to the place I found out that I forgot my money at home so I had to go to the bank just a few blocks down and get money. There were a few people ahead of us so I thought I would have enough time to get to the bank and back before it was my friends turn because I had wanted to watch her get her tongue pierced. The people ahead of us backed out and decided to leave so it was my friend's turn. Unfortunately I wasn't back in time. My friend already had her tongue pierced and it was my turn. I wasn't nervous at all I was just excited. I knew my parents would hate it and that gave me such a rush.
I went back into the room and sat down in the chair. I felt really comfortable with her. She was funny and exciting to talk to. Rebecca marked the spot with a marker and asked me to look at it. I looked at it and it was exactly where I had wanted it to be. She then clamped it. I think the clamps were the most painful part of the piercing and I wouldn't even call it pain, just a slight irritation. She then took the needle out of the package in front of me so I knew it was sterile. She placed the needle on my rook and then shoved the needle in once but it just wasn't in the right place so she pulled it out and pushed it through again. I could hardly feel it at all. She then put in a 14g CBR. I never even knew she was putting the jewellery in because it was painless. She was done and I didn't feel anything. The whole time I was joking with my friend and Rebecca. My ear was bleeding quite a bit so I sat there and waited for the bleeding to stop. It stopped within a few minutes. After that she went through the instructions for cleaning and what I should and shouldn't do. We left the place and went outside. The first time my rook hurt was when the cold air hit it. That was slightly uncomfortable.
For the first few days there were lots of crusty's and pus coming out of the hole. I cleaned it twice a day with sea salt for about two weeks. After two weeks there was no more pus and crusty's so I just stopped cleaning it with sea salt. I just cleaned it in the shower. I've had it pierced for just over 6 weeks and it doesn't bother me at all.
Some of my friends think its really cool and some of my other friends think its absolutely gross and nasty. My parents found out about it about a week after I had it done and they were upset but they got over it, just like they have for all the other peircings I have. I personally love my rook piercing and that's all that matters because it's in my ear not theirs!
If you are thinking of getting this piercing go for it. I'm not going to tell you its not going to hurt because everyone can handle different levels of pain. It might hurt for you even though it didn't hurt for me to get it done. But no pain no gain, so hey it's worth it! Next I want to get an industrial and eventually my tongue pierced. Happy piercing everyone!
