Ever since I've gotten into piercings, the one I've wanted to do the most was a vertical tragus. After getting my left tragus done the "normal" way, I knew I had to get my right tragus done vertically. I wanted it because I thought it looked like one of the coolest ear piercings around and because it's not a very common thing. I also knew there would be a lot of risks involved cuz it has a high chance of rejection and it also can't be done on a lot of people because you need a certain type of tragus. Finally after months of waiting, I decided to get it done the day after Thanksgiving.

I went to Zebra in Berkeley with my friend who was getting a tattoo done there the same night. Zebra is pretty crowded and the place isn't too big. So I go in there and I tell one of the people behind the counter I wanted to get a vertical tragus piercing. And he says, "Lemme see your tragus." I show him and he tells me that it's too small and it wouldn't work. I was crushed!!! He says the piercer could try but it would probably reject and leave a really nasty scar. By that time my face looks like =(. Then another guy comes and talks to me and looks at it and says, "yeah it's too small." I'm going "Awwww" the whole time. So then my friend and I go off to the side and try to decide what I should get pierced instead. There's a bunch of piercings I'd like to do, but I was really set on getting a vertical tragus. Then I gave in and said, "fine I'll just get a regular tragus piercing. So I go back and do all the paperwork, pick out jewelry, pay, etc. And if you've ever been to Ze bra, you know after you're done paying they give you a number and you have to wait to go to the back room to get pierced. So it was quite a long wait and during that wait, I decided that I would ask the piercer myself if she could do the vertical tragus because the people working the front aren't the piercers. I wanted confirmation from the piercer herself to tell me it wasn't possible.

So finally it was my turn and I go to the back and I sit down on the chair and I tell Kerri that I actually wanted a vertical tragus piercing but the people outside told me it wasn't possible on my ear. So Kerri looks at my tragus and feels around for a little bit. And then she says, "I CAN DO IT." Let me tell you, that was like music to my ears. So she goes outside and gets a curved barbell for me. Meanwhile, I was jumping for joy in the piercing room cuz I can get it done and one of the guys outside who originally said it couldn't be done was in the back with me also and he's all smiling at me. HAHA. So Kerri comes back and gets all the stuff ready and tells me that she's gonna do the piercing freehand because it's too small to clamp. So she jams that damn needle in my tragus. Actually it wasn't really painful at all. And the minimal amount of pain lasted for about 3 seconds. She then puts in the jewelry which was a little uncomfortable but nothing too bad. And tada! All d one. She gives me the mirror and I fall absolutely in love. It was a little weird looking because the jewelry was long so it kinda stuck out at one end but that was to allow room for the swelling. Since then I've gone back to change it to a shorter curved barbell. MY VERTICAL TRAGUS IS SO BEAUTIFUL.

Then I also had her change the jewelry on my left tragus because I wanted a stud instead of a CBR. But it turned out that the jewelry I had bought was too short so she had to go outside and get a longer barbell. WHile she was outside, one of the girls from the counter came back and she looked at my vertical tragus and said, "WOW, now THAT i've never seen before." YAY! HAHAH. Then Kerri comes back and she puts the jewelry in my tragus and then she drops the stud! So then she was really pissed cuz she had to go back outside to get another stud. I felt so bad for making her go through all the trouble. But she came back, changed the jewelry, I tipped her, and she gave me a soda, and I was good to go.

Later that night, I went to a party. And this guy and girl saw my vertical tragus and they were really impressed. The guy was like, "I'm sorry but I think I'm gonna have to bite off of you and do it too." And the girl said the same. I think I started a trend in my town! HAHA.

My vertical tragus was really easy to take care. Easier than my regular tragus actually. I could even sleep on it that very night. I am SOOO in love with my vertical tragus and I am no narcissist. It's my favorite piercing to date. I love it!!!
