Allow me to open with a little background of myself. I'm 16 years old, and I've been interested in body modification for many years. Even at a young age, the common place of fearing difference never held bearing on me. In my earlier teens I remember striking up conversation with people who were modified and adorned in less formal situations. I recall asking (of course being kind and considerate) people's reasons for modifications. To all those people I thank them for their time and kind answers, and also helping to educating me in subtle ways. I've always found them aesthetically pleasing on people, and later on for myself. This had continued on and gotten more intense over the years.
My parents are very conservative, and I respect them for it. I don't expect everyone to have the same degree of affection for such things. I've always been a little "different" my parents say I'm too intelligent. I'm very involved and interested in current events. My hairstyles have been on the extreme side due to a lack of other expressive outlets. I went from should length hair to entirely bald all within the course of a single evening. From then I went on to have a tri-hawk, and at my mother whim to a Mohawk. She soon after became increasingly dissatisfied with my appearance. At the risk of being kicked out of my house I shaved my head and I now have moderate length hair. This serves as a base for my parents views on more modern styles of living. I remember two years ago asking them about getting my transverse lobes pierced. I was met with strong opposition. They blamed it on many of my friends, of whom personally were not interested in such topics. So I sat on it, and a sked occasionally thereafter. After many extreme life altering experiences in the lives of myself and my family, we came to an agreement. If I agreed to ask for nothing else I could have my horizontal transverse lobes pierced. I was ecstatic; my two years of patience and determination had truly paid off.
Today I awoke at 11:30 and promptly got ready for the day. I gave my father the directions to Spider Bite of Methuen. We left and after a very anticipant ride there, we arrived close to 1:30 in the afternoon. I walked in and spoke to the woman at the counter, my father and I filled out some quick paperwork, then Jason came out to speak with me. He looked at my ear and picked out a curved barbell placed in against my earlobe to check for positioning. He told me it would be about 15 minutes; he went to autoclave the jewelry he had selected. Around 15 minutes later he called me into one of the rooms.
He began marking my ears and looked at the placement of my traditional lobe piercing which is occupied currently by a 12 gauge plug. He decided to place my Transverse lobe higher up. He went to grab longer curved barbells and occupied because the wait would be about another 15 minutes. I thanked him and told him it was no inconvenience at all.
He called me in the back again and we began chatting while he prepped the area and my ears. He asked me how I had heard about transverse lobes, because they aren't very common and he hadn't done many. I told him that I had seen them here on BME and fallen in love. He pointed to his belt, and told me he had a BME belt buckle and we had a quick chuckle. Jason was really nice, and he was very meticulous with his marking which I appreciate greatly. My lobes are perfectly even, or as perfect as they can be. I can see no difference between them. He handed me the mirror to check the marks, and I was pleased. He carefully clamped my ear, instructed me to take a deep breath and exhale. I felt the needle go through but the sensation wasn't pain. I could distinctly feel the jewelry slide through. Next was the Right ear, the same sensation, just more intense. Again the jewelry was worse. The jewelry was the most "painful" part but the whole procedure was really painless.
I cannot thank Jason enough for his kind conversation and effort that he puts into his work. The shop is immaculate; the staff are very friendly, and very knowledgeable. I would recommend this shop to anyone and everyone within earshot. I would also recommend this piercing; it's very beautiful and relatively painless. I'm happy to say I'll be able to sleep on it tonight, I feel no pain from it now, and the only thing I felt all afternoon was a dull sting for about an hour. Thank you for your time reading this and I hope it was informative
