All right I figure a good place to start is before the beginning, so I will give you a little background info. I am 17 year old female living in the arm pit of the world other wise known as Lafayette Colorado. There is nothing her except a Walmart and a bowling alley. I there for have nothing better to do then to take pictures, act, and day dream about my next piercing.

I got my last piercing 5 months earlier and had been fighting the itch for a new one for about 3 months because of one of two reasons 1: I was in a play and had to be able to take out all of my piercings so there wouldn't be time for it to heal, and 2: My regular piercer is in Pueblo which is about a 3 hour drive and I don't have a car so that would be on hell of a walk. So the show was over and I figured that I would start looking into my next piercing so the next time we went down I would already know what I want. I got it narrowed down between getting my rooks done or my Daith's. After examining my ears for hours on end I decided that my rook was too small and was going to be hard to get pierced so that my Daith was the best choice.

Now I would have had to wait till thanksgiving to roll around before I was even down in Pueblo but a golden opportunity fell in my lap. I'm in a photography class and the project we are working on is transportation. Our teacher told us that it didn't just have to be of cars it could be anything transporting something so I asked him if I could take pictures of someone giving a tattoo or piercing because that's transporting ink or metal into a person. He said that was fine and that his roommate was a tattoo artist. Before I even could ask if he would see if I could take pictures he was on his cell phone and they where expecting me that night. So I went down there and took some pictures of his roommate giving this really awesome Australian guy a tattoo. Let me tell you if you want something original done these guys are awesome. Everything they do is custom there's not even flash up on the walls, and there the greatest guys. So I developed the pictures and they didn't come out b ecause something was wrong with the camera. So when I went up there again I decided I would ask how much it would be to get both my Daith's done he said because I was Mike's friend and a pretty cool person he would charge me $20. I couldn't get the money that night so I went and took my pictures Joel giving a tattoo and came home disappointed and still itching. After showing people some of my work they bought a photo and I went back up there that Saturday.

I came in and all the guys where hanging out in the waiting room and I was greeted like Norm from Cheers. Joe came over and asked me if I was getting pierced this time and I gave him the 16 gage captive bead rings I wanted to use and he said it would be a little bit while he sterilized them and got ready. Joel came out and put in a head lock and gave me crap for not getting a tattoo this time, I gave him the pictures I took and by that time Joe was set up.

Joe took me into the back room where Darren was working on a painting. I sat down and watched him get everything out he took a look at my ears and said it was going to be a tight fit and decided that he better use bent needles instead of the straight ones. While he was cleaning my ear and getting it ready I asked him if he had done many Daith piercing's and he said he had done a few but not any this year. The piercing is uncommon around here he wasn't even sure what it was called when Darren asked what I was getting. He was like Ill just call it Tragus #2. Joe was like "I call it a pain in the ass to do." He then made a mark and was like "damn that's kinda pointless because you cant see it but oh well." He then put the receiving tube on my ear and asked me if I was ready and I told him yes. He started pushing the needle in I started gripping the chair in anticipation of extreme pain. He pushed part way through stopped and pushed the rest of the way through. When he started t o push through again that was the worst part the pressure/pain was pretty bad but tolerable. He told me I was doing really well and that this next part was tricky, that it is really hard to get the jewelry in there because there's not a lot of room to work. He got the ring in relatively quick and put the bead on and then gave me the mirror to check it out.

>From that point on I had grin from ear to ear. You know the one that most people get after they have sex. We then went into a discussion about Queens of the Stone age as he got my other ear ready. I was then in the process of talking my sister into getting her other Tragus pierced while he got the other needle out and made a mark on my other Daith. He made sure I was ready and he started to push the needle through this time it hurt right off the bat and he was seeming to have a little trouble getting it to go through. He made sure I was all right and told me that everything was fine this ear was just a bit tougher. It took him a little longer to get the ring in but when it was all said and done they looked fantastic. I hugged Joe and thanked him over and over again for the job well done. I paid him and tipped him $15 and went on my way back home. I would recommend that anyone in this area go to Bolder Ink they are awesome and they have guest artists in there all the time Gri me even stops in there from time to time.
