Almost a year ago, I had my ears stretched to one half inch. I loved stretching my ears. But I loved it so much that I just kept going bigger and bigger almost every day. I never realized how low the hole was getting until I tried stretching it to 5/8 inch, when it split through. The hole was so low that when I stretched it, the hole broke through the bottom of my ear. Instead of just feeling like I had a ear that looked like a butt, I felt I should make it even more unique.

I never heard of a transverse lobe piercing, I just wanted a bar to connect the two flaps of my ear lobe. I basically told the piercer to put a barbell in my ear, straight along the side of it. She then brought up the half-horseshoe type ring to me, and I said,"sure, whatever you think" and we would have done that except for the fact that we couldn't find jewelry long enough.

It may have taken me almost a year to finally decide on getting the piercing, but I don't regret it one bit. Instead of getting the half-horseshoe type ring for the piercing, I decided to get a straight barbell through my ear.

I was pretty nervous prior to the piercing, as everyone is, because I knew it wasn't going to be quick and painless. Since my ear was split in two, the piercer had to do one flap at a time, and had to free-hand it.

Free-hand means she did not use a clamp for the piercing, she just used her hands. She used a 14 gauge needle because that was the smallest gauge we could find that had a barbell long enough for my ear. It was painful to begin with, but a couple seconds after she started the piercing, I got into a zone and couldn't feel any pain. Since my ear was split, it was bleeding in between the two flaps of ear and I didn't realize that for a while.

I kept feeling my ear to check for blood, and it was bleeding, but when I looked for it in the mirror, I didn't see any. My piercer had to tell me where it was bleeding from, because im just an idiot I guess. The piercing is healing unusually well. It gets crusty each day, like any piercing does, but its not painful at all. In fact, I enjoy playing with it, and picking off the crust.

I enjoy this piercing so much, that I plan on getting my other ear pierced the exact same way in 2 days. My other ear is healed, because I took out the ring when my other ear split. My other ear that isn't pierced will hurt quite a bit im sure as well. Since I took out the plug and let it heal, it healed over with scar tissue, and scar tissue hurts really bad when you pierce it. But im sure that after a second, I will go into my zone and feel no pain, at least, that's what I hope.

I have thought about going one step further on my piercing by stretching it. But I am not sure if that is a good idea, considering that is how it got split in the first place. I just have to be smart about it and not gauge it too big too fast. I think that I should not go any higher then a 4 gauge, and maybe not even that big. I want to gauge it for two reasons. One reason is because I enjoy the whole experience of piercings and stretchings, but the other main reason is that I like to be unique.

Most of my piercings are unique. Not many people have a stretched transverse lobe piercings, in fact, I have never heard or even seen that before. I am just afraid of how I will look if my ear somehow splits again from stretching my transverse lobe. I would have like 4 flaps of earlobe on one ear. Through this writing, I have decided not to stretch my transverse lobe piercing. I base that on the fact that I have been stupid about stretching my ear in the past and I ended up splitting my ear, and I do not want to take the chance of that ever happening again. It took me so long to just get the balls to get it pierced, so it would probably take me a decade to get the balls to actually do it I guess. The thought of it seems like something unique to do, but when I actually think about doing it, or even attempt to do it, I punk out in about 2 seconds.

So overall, I think that it is one of the best piercings out there. If you do not have it, then you definetly should get it. It looks great, its a great experience and its just another piercing that you can be proud of.
