I I'm not the type of guy who enjoys pain so I was a little apprehensive when I went in to get my second lobe done. Originally I was going to get an orbital done, but my brother who at the time was my voice of reason recommended not to get it done. Afterwards I was glad I had listened to him. Before the experience let me give a little background information. I'm 19 and grew up in a pretty conservative family. Not extreme but enough that my dad freaked out at my first piercing which was just a ten gauge lobe. So the second one was a big deal but it was to be a mile marker. I had lived on my own for almost a year, and supported myself through that time. I survived a shity job and part of my first pay check went to this piercing and was set aside ahead of time. Now onto the experience it's self.

Now about the location I had this piercing done at. There are a few shops in town and most just do piercings as a sideline. Modern Primitives is a piercing only shop. Both of the employees are trained piercers, and the shop meets all health requirements by a large margin. The store actually has two other locations, but I am not about to go to them when I have my very own in town. The store sells a lot of things other than just jewelry and piercings. Anything for alternative lifestyles is pretty much found here. I haven't found any dead bodies yet. They have plenty of medieval weapons for sell as well as herbs and books for Wicca. This paragraph may sound like a advertisement but I don't work for the guy's the store is just that fun. A lot of times I find myself hanging out there just to talk to the guys even when I get shit for stabbing my room mate with a spear I purchased there.

I had my previous piercing done at Modern Primitives so I decided that I was going back there to get the second one done. Justin and James are both great piercers and Justin had done my first. Justin was working the day I went in to get the second lobe done so I was more than happy to let him do it. He had been injured the pervious week when his motorcycle decided to go straight through a S turn and his body decided to go flying off the bike. His arm was in a sling but he was more than ready to do my ear. I filled out the paperwork after admiring the collection of swords and other assorted arms they have sale, and then it was time to get my ear pierced. We went back into the piercing room my brother tagging along to watch. I think he just likes watching me get hurt to tell you the truth. I sat down in the chair and looked around the room for a moment. Everything was clean an in order a mirror was one both walls so you could see what was going on. There was a portrait style d rawing of two extremely pierced people engaging in extracurricular activity to distract you if the person who tags along isn't enough.

Justin cleaned my ear off and then marked it with a sharpie to keep it even with the other. I mean who wants two identical piercings with one a little lower than the other. He opened the needle and made sure it was good. My chair was turned to make it easier on his arm. I took a deep breath and then he pushed the needle through. I felt that burning sensation that soon faded away as the endorphins kicked in, and then it was all good. He wiped away the blood from around the needle, it's a ten gauge of course it's going to bleed, before he put the ring in and closed it up. I took another breath to steady myself before I stood up and headed into the main area. I got the instructions on how to take care of it then my brother and I headed out.

It's been a little over a month since the piercing was done. It was washed daily with dial antibacterial soap and was pretty much healed at the one month mark. At that time I got paid again. So I went in and had it stretched up to 8 gauge to be even with my other ear. It's back to healing well it's just about the two week mark after the stretch and it's doing nicely. I have considered going in to have both stretched up to six but I am not sure that my parent's wouldn't rip them out at that point.
