Well lets see I starting getting pierced when I turned 18 and have been getting them on and off since then. I have 7 total right now; both ears, 2 in my stomach, and one Dydoe, but the newest one that I got is combo Industrial and Orbital. So those two in conjunction are quite neat looking. I also at one point had my Labret done twice, but I had to take them out for a job (curse this society and not completely accepting individuality!). But perhaps I should start off by telling a little about the experience. So its Friday and I am up early (which is rare for, Night shift long hours, you know the deal) and bored. So I figure, 'Hey I haven't been to Evolution to see Noah, in awhile.' Off I go in my car, driving away, and so on.

When I get to the shop there is already a few people in there so I kindly wait until Noah is availibe to talk to. Whence he is I engage in casual conversation, which logically leads into what brings me to the shop. I told him that I was interested in getting something done. But I told him that I didn't want anything too ordinary, so we talked over a few options. Some of which would have be great, but my work would not have liked them (facial mostly, but I need to find out there exact policy so that I can exploit as much as possible) so we decided to do something in the ear. I mentioned to him that I had been thinking about getting an Industrial, but also that I wanted it to be way different. So we brain stormed away and drew up about 4 different setups for what we could do, but of course we discussed quite a bit more. After much thought, and input from other people at the shop, and about 3 cigs I come the finality that I wanted the combo Industrial and Orbital. Whic h just simply looked the best and most different of the ones that we came up with, because I be all about the being different.

So we share one more smoke then go into the room. He has me lay down on my side with my right ear facing the ceiling, then he marked away. I would to add that he is very good at telling you exactly what it is that he is going to be doing, so it is very comforting. I was a little nervous, but mostly because it had been awhile since I had gotten a piercing, and was a little ancy. I began to regulate my breathing which is my standard practice, and await the moment when I was told to take a deep breath in and exhale slowly. The time came and when the needle went through I could hear a little bit of a crunching sound, not loud mind you, but still. The pain was long missed and not quickly forgotten, and that was only the first of four that I had to endure. No matter I thought, I can get through it I have had much more painful things pierced. And besides, to quote Maynard James Keenan: "We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion." So as I tell myself this, bam the secon d one is put through, same noise, less pain. Noah then puts the barbell in and then has to wait a bit to soak up all the blood, and let it calm down a bit before doing the orbital. So after about 5 minutes or so he redoes the dots for the Orbital then has at. Even after the other one, this one still hurt and bled like there was no tomorrow.

We only encountered one "problem" in this whole ordeal, and that was that it was hard for him follow the needle with ring. So he gets out a tapper, just incase, then he pulls the needle out and quickly gets the ring through, but not really far enough. He snags a pair of pliers(of you will) and then pulls it the rest of the way through. He slaps the ball in and bickity bam! That sucka is done, but still bleeding, so I had to lay there for another 5 or so minutes while he cleaned up my ear pretty damn good I might add. So all in all this was truly a great experience for me, and I look forward to doing my other ear the same way. This is by far the best shop that I have been to in my town, and I will continue to go there as long as I live in New Mexico, hell I might even make special trips when I move out of state. Yes its just that good! Also look for pics of this and my other piercings, coming soon! Just need to get some good pics and then scan away...
